![On “JUPiTER”, the fourth track from their tenth studio album, Moon Music, Coldplay delivers an acoustic ballad that explores love, discovery and self-acceptance from the perspective of a girl named Jupiter, which is an obvious reference to both the largest planet in the Solar System and the Roman god) of the same name.
In an interview, lead vocalist Chris Martin confirmed the song was inspired by the LGBTQIAPN+ community:
“Jupiter” is about LGBTQ. I think [in] all of the songs, all the things that we’re interested in are in the songs somehow. The reason why we really support LGBTQ+, is because I noticed that everywhere we go, where LGBTQ is healthy and accepted, those countries are much… it seems like it’s much healthier. It seems like that is always a good indicator of how free the country is and how much people are able to be themselves.
