Travelcards and daily and weekly caps are frozen until March 2027. No single pay as you go Tube fare in Zones 1–6 will increase by more than 20p. Elizabeth line fares from Zone 1 to #Heathrow will rise to £15.50 for a single journey, though caps protect regular travellers.
Free travel on routes SL4, 108 and 129, introduced with the new Silvertown Tunnel, has been extended until 26 May 2026, alongside free cycle shuttle services and DLR cross-river refunds. The Mayor, Sadiq Khan, said the freeze supports lower-income Londoners.

Under Mayoral Decision MD3464, the Mayor has approved changes to #Transport for #London fares from 1 March 2026, balancing affordability with financial sustainability. Bus and tram #fares will be frozen until 5 July 2026, with the adult PAYG single fare remaining at £1.75 and daily and weekly caps unchanged. Tube and other #TfL rail fares where Tube prices apply will rise by six per cent overall, while Travelcards and PAYG caps will be frozen in line with national rail policy. All concessions, including those for children, older people and disabled passengers, will remain in place. The package results in an average TfL fare increase of 3.2 per cent, meeting funding assumptions agreed with government while keeping fares below long-term inflation and National Rail increases. A further decision will be taken later in 2026 on whether to extend the bus and tram fare freeze.

We do not expect police departments or fire departments to be profitable, or paid for at the point of service per transaction, so why would we ever think transit shold be financed this way?
Public transit is every bit as important to society as public safety, public health, and public order.
Damn. I will forever be pro-free transportation since these fare hikes make the smallest dents on transportation’s budget issues.
