‘Twas a practice night tonight… this weekend she has a tournament in Tracy. First game tomorrow morning at 10:35.
While not my preferred genre, I have been taking softball photos for my daughter’s team. This weekend we stopped by one of her friend’s games and I snapped some shots through the fence in the golden hour. (Normally my shots are from the field side of the fence in the harsh midday sun or looking directly into the rising sun 😢).
This catcher with her bright yellow gear stood out in the golden light and I snapped quite a few photos of her. I’ve not seen the yellow gear before, but I like it!

Strange start to today with a loss for the team and two uncharacteristic strike outs for my daughter (she only had 2 in the whole of the last season). Then she pulls off an in the park home run in the third game. Team ended day 1 with 2 wins, 1 loss ranking us 2nd in our pool. Championship games tomorrow…
Final softball post for the day. Here she nonchalantly catches the ball she just pitched when the batter sends it back at her.
A single with two runs in, but this was after 2 balls, 2 strikes and *10* foul balls. A new personal foul record for my daughter.

Four softball games, over 5,000 photos and I’m finally done with the selection, processing and editing. This moment, in the first game, made me smile.

Very long day yesterday, four games and the girls of the Sorcerer Hazlett 10U team earned their gold medals. First tournament of spring/summer 2025. An unusual one day tournament (there’s some other event happening today 😉), but the team played well. Four home runs over the course of the day, 36 runs scored and only six given up over the four games.

It’s going to be a long Saturday. We need to leave home at 5:30am to get there for the first game. Somehow we drew the short straw and got the four game schedule.

Day 28 of the #AmericanCancerSociety #PhotoADay challenge. Leaving it all on the field. At the end of one of my daughter’s softball games this weekend, the masks, gloves and catcher’s helmet were tossed on the ground while they shook hands with the other team.

Got my schedule for Saturday at least. Back to Stockton for us.
It was another weekend of softball, back in Stockton. So, no new wildlife shots (unless you count shots of wild 10 year old girls). Instead, here is a face mask and glove tossed in the dirt at the end of a game while they go to thank the other team for a good game.

Finished selecting, editing and sharing the photos from the #SorcererWilliams 10U softball team’s weekend tournament. In time to repeat it again this coming weekend. We’ll be back in Stockton, this time for a #PGF tournament.
I’d love one of those fancy f/2.8 400mm prime lenses, but I can’t justify even 1/10th the price of those, so my “cheap” RF100-400 will have to suffice.
