Besides the nightingale (previous post) we saw the common eider to our surprise. First female Eider, but later also a male Eider. I posted some photos in my pixelfed account.

Went birding together with my daughter. We went to the coast. While arriving at the parking area and lowering the window for a ticket I heard the common nightingale. I pick the first parking spot and we walked to the place where the singing came from. In the area we heard several nightingales of which we managed to see three. Half hidden, hard to photograph.

Moved ourselves to the west coast of Ireland today. Not many interesting stops. One stop at an old viaduct was nice because of the river beneath: playground (building small dams) and birding spot (a kingfisher rushing by and grey wagtail catching flies)

I managed to hurt myself but it was great to visit Great Saltee. Saw ao many birds. Top 4: northern gannet, razorbill, puffin and common murre.

Drove from Dublin to South Ireland. Most part is was misty and rainy, but did see and/or hear (like the common grasshopper) some nice birds.

Spent hours in my local patch. Mainly waiting for the kingfishers. They flashed by several times, but were not in the mood to pose. But I can get used to sitting in the woods, in the sun and out of the wind…. Also I did find a cuckoo willing to pose.
