"Pajarrako" (big weird bird) — A continuation of my explorations of image creation at the intersection of physical media and digital media, I like to be able to change the material aspect of an object like in a game of digital alchemy. In this case, I designed and assembled a felt piece featuring a bird in a workshop conducted by Théophile Peris. Later, I 3D-scanned the felt piece with my mobile phone and modified it on Blender so I could change its material and light settings, I also incorporated one of my photographs on the background. I then combined two images on Photoshop to create the final picture. There are still many methods I'd like to learn in Blender but I feel I'm improving. Other than that, the original felt piece is probably one of the art projects of my life where the ideation phase was the shortest, I only spent some minutes deciding on the design of the bird, as much of the workshop was dedicated to cutting the felt and sewing the pieces together. Wild Strawberry 🍓

This one is #needlefelted on felt, and framed in a painted embroidery hoop. I started it as a demo in the spring wildflowers class and then fine tuned it last night. Strawberries feel hopeful and cheerful to me ♥️

I started experimenting with #needlefelted koi ponds last summer. I love the way tiny bits of fanned out wool roving can become diaphanous fins. My first multi pond piece was purchased by a friend as a birthday gift for her sister, whose beloved koi pond had been depopulated by hungry raccoons.

Felted Fox…this piece started as a triangle-ish shaped wet felted vessel made on a flat resist. Once dry, I stuffed it and stitched part of the opening closed to create the ears. From there, the fox came to life through needlefelting. Hello!
