Network Rail will begin the first stage of electrifying the Borders #Railway later this week, following a £342m #Scottish #Government investment in #Fife and the Borders. Preparatory piling work will start on sections between Newcraighall and Shawfair, and Bowshank Tunnel to Tweedbank, supporting future overhead line equipment for electric trains. Three weekend closures in March and overnight work are planned, with bus replacements provided. The electrification aims to cut carbon emissions, improve passenger experience, and support regional growth. Since reopening, the line has carried over 13 million passengers.

🧠 This was in Culross but I thought it looked like we could be somewhere in Spain or Italy with the yellow building in the background.

⭐ First time I've just cropped the picture to Instagram Square - I thought details either side of the bust were distracting.

➡️ I'll try another edit with more of the plinth in. Maybe portrait orientation would make that work.

The crumbling and precarious clifftop ruins of Newark Castle, near St Monans in the East Neuk of Fife, also sometimes known as the Castle of St Monans. A castle was probably first built here in the mid-1200s. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/stm

The crumbling and precarious clifftop ruins of Newark Castle. The foreground of the image has a bay with the sea to the right at quite low tide. There are cliffs in the middle ground beyond the bay with stone ruins on top of them. The sky is blue and the scene is in sunshine.

It has been a really good day.

Ended up in Dunfermline, a place I haven't been for about 10 years. A short wander around the shopping centre. Went to a newly opened bookshop, a small space that I think will thrive, but I didn't enjoy the visit today, it was too busy for my liking.

Playing some Ingress while wandering around, so we ended up in the glorious Pittencrieff Park. I love this park so much, sadly the peacocks were hiding today, but we did pop into the peacock sanctuary and had a lovely chat with one of the staff.

Even though the weather was pretty dreich, it was so good to walk on paved paths but still feel like I was in nature. I needed that walk, even if I am in agony now and doped up on pain meds, yay. Plus point, the park has an abundance of benches all over, so I did take advantage of them.

The sign in the butchers window just amused me, so you get to see it too 😊

Dunfermline City Chambers clock tower. A french gothic style building towers above surrounding buildings. The tower is old stone with small turrets, copper roof that is a lovely shade of green.Looking through the trees to Dunfermline Abbey and Palace walls. The old stone wall still stands but there is no glass in the many windows.A mural of a peacock on the wall of the Peacock Sanctuary in Pittencrieff park.Sign in a butchers window. A wood frame chalkboard has picture of a pig with its curly tail and bum facing the window. Writing on the board says "We like pig butts and we cannot lie!!".

Pete Wishart, SNP MP for Perth and Kinross-shire, also hit out at Farage, saying: "He came, he saw, he went to Davos in a private jet and he lost....."
