After I started listening to the book 'Anvils of the Heldenhammer - The Ancients' by Dale Lucas, I got a bit fascinated by the color scheme and the lore of the Anvils.

"The Anvils of The Heldenhammer are recruited from heroes of a distant age, long ancient dead that fight like spectres out of legend. Unlike most Eternals, they were not taken on the brink of death but were already at rest when they were called by Sigmar..."

I guess I'm intrigued by ancient lore and mysteries. I felt a bit tired of painting the same white color too, so it felt really fun to try my hand at an 'established' color scheme and to make it fit with the white Caledonians to create a mixed army. I always planned for the Caledonian chamber to be from the realm of Shyish, like the Anvils, so they're probably a sister chamber, or part of the stormhost somehow. I'll have to read up on Stormcast Eternals military organisation.

Bunch of acrylic #FigurePainting from today’s #FigureDrawing marathon.

I stayed in the gesture drawing room, there are some one minute, two minute, three minute, and 5 minute paintings here.

I prepped all the canvases and panels early this morning by making them all roughly 30 percent cool blue grey.

Many small 5x7 wood panels and canvasses so I could keep up in a 20 minute block. Also some US letter size canvases and a couple larger panels and canvasses.

I was able to snag a spot by the sink so it was fast to dump water and wash things out.

I met a nice oil painter named Heidi, and loaned her some acrylic pens to try out. And a painter named Caroline who explained a lesson from her 6 year old nephew - just gotta start painting and do it.

Painted figure of a seated muscly male with only small black undies. Dark beard, leaning head against a hand. Parts of the painting are painted more carefully, with smooth light brushstrokes, and parts like the calfs and legs have only a few suggestive strokes. The background looks yellow, although around the figure there are black areas, seemingly to be filled in later as the work progresses.

A commission I finished recently for the Size Library and Museum curated by Mr. Taedis. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have made this for the museum!

Had some canvases to recycle, so blocked out shapes and then alternately painted and drew with charcoal.

These are 20 mins apart, at least one missing from the first session while I was setting up.

One thing I did after the first round of drawing was pull some white and yellow where the highlights were hottest. You can still see some random yellow call outs.

The ones that came out best had some color vibrancy from being paint overs (recycling canvases).

I recently finished this gouache painting during a 12‑hour drawing session. I know there’s still plenty of room for improvement, but after wrestling with color for so long, I can’t help but feel happy with how it turned out.
