43 years ago both Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner', based on Philip K. Dick's novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep', and John Carpenter's 'The Thing' based on 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell Jr., a more faithful and definitely more gruesome adaptation of the novella than 1951's 'The Thing from Another World', were released.

if there weren’t any more copies of my preferred film(s) available, I’d daydream about a future when I could buy lots of DVDs for my own personal collection and never have to wait.

Then I’d go look in the older sections and sometimes find gems there.

(But it sure is nice to have instant access to a much wider range of films through streaming these days!)
