Woke up this morning thinking about Anne Jeffreys’ rendition of “Money is the Root of All Evil” in Riff Raff, the 1947 film noir directed by Ted Tezlaff starring Jeffreys and Pat O’Brien as the closest thing to a Robert Mitchum cannabis detective. I’ll attach the Andrews Sisters original recording which had come out the year before. Here’s an excellent 2015 review by a connoisseur:
