For my next pixel art attempt, I used a reference image and experimented with dithering. May have gone overboard and the composition may be a bit unclear, but I think it turned out alright.

As for the subject, the inspiration was the "Paper Chase" mission in the new "FBC: Firebreak" game.

I’ve been playing more “FBC: FireBreak” and it seems like I can now hold my own after about 8 hours of playing on either Easy or Normal. This is me doing some community service and writing a tutorial that this game sorely lacked.

1. You can burst into flames spontaneously in the first “Hot Fix” mission if it gets too hot or one of the fans flares up. Each Fix Kit has a way to put yourself out by using the secondary ability of your tool. Also, you need to zipline the Black Stone barrels into the Furnace at the end of the level, don’t try to throw them in. Dodge the flash afterword in the pit.

2. Using showers and taps is how you heal. Showers also remove status effects, you can see if you have a status effect by the icon next to your health on the lower left of the screen. Also if you’re soiled by environmentals you can wash them off in the shower.

3. The first things you have to unlock to make the game fun are the Altered Items that each Fix Kit has (piggy bank, gnome, tea kettle) and the gadgets. Also level 2 or above weapons. Altered Items are your “ultimate” and will help you survive large hordes and tough enemies.

4. You can only take out Cursed Items that float around by using the Black Stone Launcher found in Shelters and ammo points. They don’t take damage from any other weapons. Each item has a unique effect on surrounding hordes. (Making them faster, etc…)

5. Stay close together or your shields vanish. This may be hard to do depending on how experienced your team is and how focused they are on the mission.

6. Shelters are respawn points and have health and ammo. Opening a shelter triggers a horde.

7. Try to host your own games. Ragequitting is rampant.

8. As you level, add abilities to your loadout.

This information will make the first few hours of gameplay a lot more pleasant. Hope it helps someone!

Even though I spent most of the last 7-8 days sick I have had way too much fun playing FBC Firebreak. The first patch really tightened up the gameplay and what can I say, getting to play a mashup of control and a lite loot shooter is really fun. #fbcfirebreak #FireBreak

I spent my midsummer trying out the new Remedy game “FBC: Firebreak”.

I’m gaga about Control and Alan Wake 2 and I love being absorbed by the environmental storytelling in these games. It sounded weird that Remedy was making a multiplayer coop shooter, but I decided to give it a shot. I’ve played a lot of Darktide, so I’d say I’m pretty familiar with this genre.

I’m really torn about how I feel about this game. It has great ideas and very creative and interesting missions to choose from, however playing this game feels a lot like flailing around aimlessly for the first solid hour I put into it. It got better as I progressed, but not by much.

I’m still going to keep playing, but I have to admit I’m giving this game a lot of rope due to my admiration of Remedy’s other games.
