Accidentally bought CCA Ethernet cable on Amazon (copper-clad aluminum). Total junk. Copper burns off w/ a lighter, revealing flimsy brittle aluminum, degrades signal, and a PoE fire risk. Only upside is price. Got to rip out 100ft + clips. Don’t make my mistake.

FYI and/or reminder for people who already know:

Linseed oil is combustible and it can *spontaneously* combust. If you're using linseed oil for your woodworking or other project: leave the rags to dry away from sources of fire and fuel, preferably outside, preferably in a fire-proof bucket, until completely dry.

Some oil is not labelled as linseed oil but contains it. Unless you're sure, dispose of your rags and brushes safely!

Just found where a small #Fire (?) had broken out in an box of stored household goods.

Concave #ShavingMirror appears to have focused the winter sun's rays enough to have an edge & folded corner of a cardboard box ignite &/or combust enough for the side flap of the box to fall off. #FireHazard

I have in another life taken 200 small bales of hay out of a shed and stood them in pairs in the paddock when they began to steam in the shed. Baled too green. They can combust.

Today I learned that the fire hazard of a house with a car is substantially more than that of a house with photovoltaic and house storage system and an electric vehicle, that is substantially more than a house with PV and HSS, that is more than a house with only PV, that is more than only a house with a base risk of 0.28%.

The GCFI outlet in my little bathroom got burnt. Fortunately I saw the smoke and managed to turn it off before things got out of hand. So I guess GCFIs don't protect from burning plugs? 🤷‍♀️!

Whatever.

Culprit was an el cheapo hairdryer. 🙄 Gonna write #FireHazard on it before I dispose of it lest someone tries to use it. I do label my #trash sometimes. I've left a few items in the refuse room labeled "Not trash. Yours, if you want it."

Wondering if I can replace this myself... or call a pro. 🤔?
