On a Monday, I needed to do something a little more relaxing than chores and catching up on the news. Another find from my treasure hoard of images captured in Flagstaff last summer. The quest or battles of this decorative iron "drawing" seem to have different interpretations depending on what is going on in your world when you see it. My first thoughts went to Day of the Dead skeletons trying to outrun attacks. But then I wonder if the helmets and surreal images show Nazi villains. Your guess?

The entrance is old fashioned with black painted wood, gold painted trim around door and window panels and it is dark still, early morning.

Dedicated to my friend @SrRochardBunson a scoundrel and zine-lover if I ever saw one. Like a few other images I've shared over the last three months, this one from my "real camera" was also seen in an alley in downtown Flagstaff Arizona on a dreary morning early. I wondered what the metal plate was originally bolted to the exterior wall to cover. Perhaps a coal shute opening. It was fun to read the many stickers and somehow they surrounded but did not cover the graffiti, maybe one with some sort of meaning. In any case, a found abstract image.

As described in the post, a metal plate bolted to a cement wall in an alley. It's been there years and is weathered but still continues to collect graffiti in spray paint, marker or chalk, with stickers at random filling the bottom and partway up the sides of the square plate painted light gray-green. The outer areas are dirty textured cement, gray with brown details in cracks. A bit of a window is top left but looks sealed up. Grungy image but this is an actual photo not edited with filters.

No idea what happened to a post I had this morning, but in recognition of St. Patrick's Day, I have a sign from an Irish pub @ grill to share, Collins. I didn't get to go there and it was good to know that sometime when I get up there next to Flagstaff, I will try it out. I dearly miss "my" Rúla Búla Irish restaurant I went to for over 20 years, Tempe Arizona. It closed and I'll never see the likes of it again. Every St. Patrick's Day, I and my brothers and sisters would each get our own limerick written for us by my full Irish grandfather. It was very special and I still have some saved to this day! Hanging outdoor sign for an Irish restaurant in Flagstaff. Over 25 years there now the sign is labeled. Copper colored metal oval hangs from a black wrought iron bracket. The letters and harp designs are cut through the top plate to expose the black one under it. The rest of the building around this sign shows stucco, wood and red brick on the facade with windows set high at the storefront. Collins is the name.

This is a Sunday greeting. I hope you have a bright, sunny day today. Or maybe it will be overcast and a bit gray. I saw this sun medallion on a patched exterior wall in a Flagstaff alley this last summer.

I'm unsure if this will show up very well in the browser. The size is much larger than I like to share, but the smaller size makes it look like there is no focus. And, as usual, I have a nice bright Mac display 27" with great contrast, so for me, it's not too dark. Hmmm, but maybe for you? I'm interested in your comments, but please do mention what browser and computer/mobile device you are seeing this with. Thanks!

This sun medallion is an odd decorative part of a building exterior back wall patched many times with new cement and paint. It is raised up cement like a medallion that has been a bit eroded and rubbed off partly. The yellow paint highlights some of the rays and the sphere is encircled with yellow paint partly over white outline paint. There is a bit of medium gray-blue paint on the most raised part of the sun face. The rest of the wall is textured and patched cement showing beige, white, brown and blue-gray sections as for an abstract painting.

Spent a couple of days up north in #Flagstaff #Arizona, attended a campus tour of #NAU today ahead of my kid starting there later this year. Severe weather warning during our visit, and it snowed! These pics were taken in #Tlaquepaque this afternoon - it’s a quaint Mexican-village-themed arts/crafts/restaurants area in #Sedona. #pics

And our grand tour of the American west was over. We went back to Flagstaff, Arizona where it all started. Flagstaff is connected to space in so many ways: Lowell Observatory, Clyde Tombaugh, Pluto, First Dark Sky City. The stars are magnificent there.
