Bought some #RapidPETG from #Elegoo on #Amazon and I’m having a hell of a time getting things to #Print well… I’m still new enough to #3DPrinting that I don’t know the technical terms or reasons, but it looks like #Boogers forming on the #Nozzle.

I did a small Upgrade as i'm Not patient enough 🤓 i print now on a #Flashforge adventurer 5m pro!

First run with the InfinityFlow S1: things have gone badly. The PTFE tube at the hotend side isn't secured by anything but friction, so it popped off from the force the S1 is exerting.

And it looks like they sent me the wrong adapter, so I'm going to have to unload everything, print that, and put it all back together.

BTW you can load filament into the #Flashforge #AD5M without top access, but it's very awkward. #3DPrinting

Cuboid 3D printer with an additional contraption on top of it. It is a device that takes two filament spools and merges them into a single path, with the aim of enabling seamless spool changes.

My First try was a fail, but my second one was full success! This was printed in a #flashforge adventurer 3. Quite slow and Limited in sitze, but good to train with! #3dprint

Decided to test the #3dPrinting waters with a #FlashForge Adventurer 5M. It seems to be a decent value while probably having good print quality. I’ll know more in the future.

Kind of exciting, even if I’m a decade late to the party.

I attempted to live-swap filament and it did not really work. You have to keep pressure on the filament until the new bit gets into the extruder, but you can't really see where it is and if you push too hard you'll push the PTFE tube out of one or both fittings.

I think what should happen is you let the filament sensor trigger, then do a filament swap from the menu, then resume the print. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

Same problem as always. Well, multiple problems, but the main one is that the infill is trying to print way too fast, doesn't stick, and will eventually cause a failure if left to go on.

Comparing slicer previews shows that although both are supposedly limited to 8 mm^3/s, Bambu Studio is calling for 40 mm/s while Orca Slicer is calling for 80 mm/s. #3DPrinting #Flashforge #AD5M

A failed 3D print. The infill is not adhering properly, resulting in blobs of plastic all over the place.

The toolhead is contacting the LED strip and dragging it around when you try to use the very front of the bed. I can’t seem to get the LED strip any further forward, so what I’m going to do is put the purge line 10 mm back from the front of the printer and forget about that strip of bed. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

It’s back together enough to print, which I need to do. So far so good, except it bumps the camera cable while meshing. Guess I just won’t do that too often then.

Waiting on glue to set up on a bunch of magnets. The filament cutter will have to wait as I don’t have the proper springs. I may not even bother as I’m probably just going to run the one filament on this machine anyway. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

A 3D printer, now with acrylic panels on its front and sides. The tool head is now sporting a cable chain and lighting is visible.

Today is Thursday. This enclosure was supposed to be done last Sunday.

Wait for a discount on the pro model, don’t do a DIY enclosure. It’s not even really saving me any money at this point. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

Not a huge fan of compliant mechanisms, in this case what should be locking tabs. I ended up just using hot glue, which is usually a solution, if not the best solution. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

Very much over working on this enclosure. Printing the plates standing up means they don’t quite lock together properly, but the other way creates a nightmare for support removal.

At the very least I did get the LED lighting and the camera installed, which were (mostly) plug and play. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

So I’ve been working on the enclosure for the past few days. I went with a remix of the enclosure so I don’t know if the remix is wrong (though it doesn’t seem to be) or if for some strange reason the manufacturer changed the hole spacing. I can’t get the top hat on with the side panels installed. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

More thoughts:

* Heater does not keep up with how fast the printer wants to go
* Cooling does not keep up with how fast the printer wants to go
* You *think* flow calibration on other printers is a waste of time/filament, but the results are noticeably better on such printers without me having to do anything. Relevant if you want to use random spools of pricy filament.
* Incredibly loud

Upon reflection, I think there is an argument that could be made that this is simpler for someone who has never used a printer before.

The PTFE tube is only lightly attached, so there’s no coupler to deal with. It’s not *that* anjoying, though I expect I will install a cutter at some point. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting

Nope, it got maybe ten layers up, then started spinning the middle part around instead of it staying stuck. Going to try some other tips, maybe slow the speed and make it even thinner... Before it decided to just stop mid print the last time, it was adhering fine, so why is it suddenly not 😭

And then after printing this fidget cube mesh I downloaded for 3 hours no problem, my #flashforge Adventurer 5m just suddenly decided to stop with no error message or anything, nothing was happening so I clicked "pause" and now it's just Frozen on this paused screen with nothing clickable.

f*** technology man every time I start to have a little bit of fun it all just f****** breaks

Tonight I was fixing a 3d printer that was donated to my hackerspace, and I came across this fun Easter egg that made me a bit thirsty

@2600 @OffTheHook

A close up of a circuit board with a square presumably for an unused micro SD card slot, but within the square it says
"CLUB-MATE"

"for refined palates"A wider view of one corner of a circuit board. Mostly normal components and expected markings, but the unused micro SD card mounting location at the top center has "CLUB MATE for refined palates" printed in it. At the bottom left, there is a small round speaker, but its label says "BUZZ BUZZ"

The plan was to use the new #3dprinter to make figurines for me to paint, but so far everything we've printed with the standard pla spools I bought are so pretty that it feels like a shame to paint over them...

(I did get some plain white and black filament to use eventually, but all the other colors have such a lovely ✨sparkle✨ build in ♥️)

It's a #flashforge Adventurer 5m by the way. Every time I mention we bought a 3D printer finally, people ask what kind it is 😂
