Our mini-kiwi Actinidia arguta is flowering for the first time! The two female vines (Kens Red) started a few days ago and since yesterday the male vine (Weiki) is flowering , too. Looking forward to tasting the #fruit 🤞

Male kiwi vine Actinidia arguta Weiki : glossy green leaves, bright-red stems and a couple of white blossoms, each with a circle of dark stamens - it almost looks like a crosscut of a kiwi fruit!

And there is a much wider significance, for me at least. What are the drivers for the #NatureEmergency & #ClimateEmergency? What structures & systems can we imagine & build that address these drivers?

Hence my interest in #WoodMeadows, #ForestGarden, #commons, #colonialism, #capitalism and #fascism. They are linked.

By night, I am forest gardener. By day, I am Biodiversity Assistant with Ceredigion Nature Partnership. Had the most amazing Friday, first I helped put up some Otter holts. Then visited partner who has a forest garden field that will be the site of the grassland ID workshop for a local school. And then a 12 acre property, looking for help with managing pasture for wildlife.

Went to visit *gorgeous* garden near Aberaeron today, it will be the site for local primary school grassland ID workshop. Lovely people, it's a #ForestGarden of sorts as well. This is European Elder 'Haidegg' I think, I planted one in the #HopeGarden. Stunning

Had our first Grassland ID #wildlife workshop at the #HopeGarden yesterday with Ysgol Cilgerran. It's a community space and outdoor workshop in the middle of a wildlife #ForestGarden.

May bug that bumped into the window from the inside. They orient themselves by the moonlight and get confused by artificial light. It flew of again in the dusk of the evening.

I recently attended a workshop by Permaculture Institute of North America about starting nurseries. Among all the facilitators, these books were most recommended. A bit hard to find used though. I guess people keep them.

"The petition to save our forest garden has gathered over 7,500 signatures in two days which is AMAZING.

"I think our landlords DHT may have been surprised and shocked both by the level of support and by the passion shown, so thank you all again.

"Before we went public, we did in fact write to CEO Robert Fedder at DHT a week ago, explaining why the forest garden was such an important resource, and asking them to retract their notice to quit. We also told him that there would be considerable public support and inevitable bad PR for them. Clearly DHT didn’t want a sensible dialogue at that time ….

"Our focus now is persuading DHT to sell the forest garden site to us. We know there are supporters out there itching to get crowdfunding so anyone with good experience of this please get in touch – we may need you!

"We heard a report that someone shouted abuse at Dartington staff yesterday. Please don’t. DHT front line staff are not responsible for DHT decisions.

"We are so touched by all the messages of support, this really means a lot so thanks again everyone."
