I’ve been to K’gari (Fraser Island) once, on an organised day trip from Noosa. We saw the beaches, the forest & the beautiful perched lake. We saw dingoes from a distance, & some in our party inadvertently fed the local kookaburras in spite of the warnings. It was a lovely day. I appreciate that many campers do the right thing, but if there are too many, or if too many break the rules in their attempts to get pics for their Insta, then camping should be banned. #dingoes #Kgari #FraserIsland

The picture shows Lake Wabby on K'gari (Fraser Island), Australia, which you can only find if you walk over a sand dune. The blending colours from yellow to green is what makes me like the photograph.

Flashback for #FungiFriday to a single day walk through the incredible K'gari in Great Sandy National Park. Spent HOURS admiring and photographing endless species of fungi. K'gari has #rainforest, #eucalyptus woodland, #mangrove forests, wallum and peat #swamps , #sanddunes and coastal #heath. It is made up of sand that has been accumulating for approximately 750,000 years on volcanic bedrock that provides a natural catchment for the sediment carried on a strong offshore current northwards along the coast. Unlike on many sand dunes, plant life is abundant due to the naturally occurring #mycorrhizal #fungi present in the sand, which release nutrients in a form that can be absorbed by the plants. #gratitude #FraserIsland #Kgari #Queensland #Australia
