I have managed to set up a #Flohmarkt instance, thanks to some project devs who fixed a bug that stopped me from configuring it properly 🥳
Thanks @grindhold and others for creating it ❤️
I have created one to play with for the #Derby (UK) and nearby areas.
If anyone wants an account, feel free to join at https://flohmarkt.gogreenit.net and read the rules :)
I need to add some other servers so you can see more items for sale, as I've only put 1 item of my own on there as of now.
~ 100 VHS home recordings of PBS programming from the 90s, in Lasalle (Montreal, QC, Canada). Not my posting, seen on Freecycle.
My wife will be cross with me if I take these*, so sharing here incase there's any #montreal archivists that need a new project.

Someone’s unwanted shower screen will make a really good end window for the shed. I found this on freecycle. #RepairReuseRecycle #Freecycle #Freegle

Someone’s unwanted door will soon become another window for the shed. #RepairReuseRecycle #Solarpunk #Freecycle
@magsol Is #FreeCycle a thing where you are?
Never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to walk off with for free.
The problem with going through cellars and attics to get rid of stuff is that you keep finding stuff you like.
I found this pair of small grow light shelves I used to grow fancy primrose seedlings at the beginning of the pandemic. They still work great. I wrote up the #Freecycle post to give them away but I can't bring myself to hit Post. Maybe tomorrow!
@adelinej Haven't used it for a couple of years, but the "freecycle" Ottawa group was a great way to get rid of things.
I should get a few things on there myself as autumn progresses.
Paging #MastoDaoine of Dublin! Would anyone know of any charities or community groups that could do with a free TV? (Dublin 7, collection only.)

It's a 32 inch (80 cm) LG, a little over 10 years old, but in excellent working order, and is completely free of any those dreaded "smart" features so beloved by surveillance capitalism.
It's very similar to this listing, though definitely lighter! - https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/72607072
I use #Freegle quite a lot to get rid of stuff as we have very little storage space. Generally this works well, but there is a reasonably high percentage of folks who ask but never actually collect. However, these people never just forget, they always have some life changing event that meant they were both unable to collect and unable to tell me.
Clearly agreeing to collect items from Freegle is highly dangerous and I can no longer recommend it, for your own safety.
Maybe I should try #Freecycle instead?
@n3vemrepeater I checked into Lake Washington's "Louie Net" tonight, and they had a fun question - "what's the coolest thing you ever found in or beside a dumpster?"
My best trash pick has to have been a repeater - it's what got me started dabbling with repeaters. I wrote about that a couple years back: https://n3vem.com/blog/repeater-ramblings/
Curious to hear what cool stuff you Fedi folx have saved from the trash.
Well, my personal site (UK) for selling and giving away stuff is not getting a lot of enquiries so far. I guess it's just reach.
I have updated it with the next lot of objects though.
Slippers! Vintage Computing! Power supplies! DIY music gear salvage! Headphones! random crap!
If you are in the UK please look!

I've just uploaded a whole lot of new stuff to my personal for-sale site (UK only)
A lot of it is parts for making electric guitar amplifiers (more to come)
there's also a variety of electronics to salvage (many power supplies of various sorts)
some fountain pens (more to come)
misc household items
old computers and routers
and I'm not done yet.
I really need categories next - but search is working.
prices are mostly somewhat indeterminate as it's a lot of research to work out a fair price, but get in touch if you see anything you fancy.

I've added more items and a search function to my personal website for selling and giving away physical objects.
I was pleased to find pagefind, (pagefind.app) which is a js script that implements search completely locally with no privacy issues and minimal extra bandwidth.
I'm thinking I still might want categories though. But that could easily proliferate and I don't want to do it dynamically I want to keep the site static.
At the moment I'm favouring splitting listings into just two categories:
* working finished objects
* things that are parts, salvage, or repair
Opinions and feedback welcome.
There's still lots more to photograph and list!
Does anyone in #Pennsylvania or #Maryland inside the #Harrisburg, #Philadelphia, #Baltimore triangle have a line on free, used networking racks, mounting hardware, etc.? I'm looking for mostly the rack rails for some projects.
When I was doing construction/remodeling I saw these getting thrown in dumpsters so often that it feels weird to pay for new ones when I fell like there should be some out there somewhere that are about to get binned.
I have a busy week ahead of me, and I'm trying something different: listening only to complete albums on CD. No MP3 collection on shuffle (my normal work music choice), no Radio Paradise (as much as I love Radio Paradise). A little more deliberate, and the end of each album will make a good break point.
I'm also putting my new-old CD player through its paces. I picked up a JVC XL-V211 off of #Freecycle a few weekends back, and with two components I now have an office stack.
So I'm having a very large, very slow clearout.
I want to get rid of my stuff with minimal use of evil corporate platforms so I'm trying out listing it on my own website.
My sale site is here: https://epic-attic.co.uk
I've got about 35 items listed so far, maybe 100 or so more to come, once I've taken photos and so on.
This is a real #smallweb project! You have to email me to buy/claim stuff there's no checkout and no tracking or scripts of any sort. EDIT( I just remembered there is one js script to run the image gallery, but it is entirely local and doesn't send or request data anywhere.)
I think we need a hashtag for selling and giving away stuff in the UK (for non business stuff)
What about #SecondHandUK ?
I thought ukForSale initially but that sounds like a political statement.
Is anyone else selling off their excess stuff in the UK? Should we start a #webring?
