My kiosk project (see thread from my previous instance https://fosstodon.org/@crimperman/114374833343550926) is proving to be fun.
#fullpageos is a breeze to use and after searching through many guides I discovered the shutdown button was easy to implement too!

So now the testing phase is over and it's time to move from breadboard to soldering iron 😁

Fullpageos does use chromium but as this kiosk will always be offline while running, run only for a few hours a week and access a single locally hosted static page I am happy to live with it for now.

The downside being I couldn't run this on a pi zero or even 3A+ due to RAM requirements of chromium. So pi 3B+ it is then!

That 3B was my main retropie rig so, sadly, I've had to replace it with a new 4GB 4B+.

As you can tell I'm heartbroken 😜

I have upgraded one of my #RaspberryPi to Debian Bullseye and it stopped responding, i.e. did not obtain IP address. That happened because DHCP daemon path changed. Bueno, como he dicho, #fullpageos es muy buena idea para montar un #chromebook en una #raspberrypi, pero llevan tiempo sin actualizar y se echan en falta controles en el navegador. Yo he sido incapaz de volver a la página de inicio o de teclear una url porque siempre está en modo pantalla completa.

Probaré las versiones #nightly, a ver si metieron alguna mejora.

@kytta Two years ago, I used #FullPageOS for a project and was happy with how easy it was to set up :raspberrypi:
You give it a list of webpages and it can headlessly launch them after boot in a fullscreen Chromium instance.
IIRC you can set the duration between webpages to an arbitrary value (e.g. display every webpage 30s or 1h)
Last Release was in May of last year, so I'm not sure, if everything still works and is safe to use, but you might want to give it a try:

So etwas nutzen wir auch, nur ohne iServ. Einfach ein #raspi mit Chromium im Kioskmodus, das die #webuntis-Vertretungsliste anzeigt. Dazu ein kleines cron-skript, das Nachmittags auf die 2-Tages-Ansicht schaltet und morgens wieder auf die 1-Tages-Ansicht.

#FullPageOS (https://github.com/guysoft/FullPageOS) macht ähnliches. Haben wir auch zeitweise benutzt.

Allmählich wird es Zeit, https://github.com/netzbegruenung/schaufenster-os auf Debian #Buster zu bringen. #FullPageOS hat ein paar builds unter http://unofficialpi.org/Distros/FullPageOS/nightly/ .
