This is my review of the FLX1 phone from @FuriLabs. I've been using this phone for about 3 years as a daily driver. I am very happy with it! My banking app works, which is great, Android apps work very well in general. Plenty of settings and updates are monthly. There are glitches: flickering of the screen that I can't stop unless I remove the battery, that happens when I press power button twice; and artifacts being left back when uninstalling Android apps.

Ich hatte gerade angefangen mich mit Linux Phones zu befassen... Nun brennt der Kittel. Wichtig wäre mir FaceID, IP68, sehr gute Kamera mit Makrofunktion und Google sandbox mode...
Ich kenne FairPhone und FLX1s, aber die passen nicht wirklich (vor allem nicht wasserdicht)..
Was habt Ihr so für Empfehlungen?

I am using FLX1 (not FLX1s). It is a great phone, but uninstalling some android apps (from Aurora store) leaves artifacts that I can't get rid of. Also it is not fully open source. I do have to restart android container often enough for apps to work properly, RAM gets clogged up enough to see messages about os killing various processes. I also stil have screen flickering when power button pressed quickly twice. It is not a perfect phone - but it is my daily driver.

You install "Aurora Store" from "F-Droid". It lets you install non-open-source Android apps. Ones that you cannot live without and cannot "get" any other way.
Again, yes, the FLX1s can also run (many) Android apps.
This is where you would look last, if you cannot find what you want in "Software" or "F-Droid".

Somewhat recently I switched to using the FLX1s Linux phone (from an Android phone).
The FLX1s is a privacy oriented phone, that is an open platform, built on open-source software, where I am in control of it.
One thing that I find makes using it better is — having these 3 app stores installed:
• Software
• F-Droid
• Aurora Store
I switched my phone somewhat recently — from an Android phone to a FLX1s Linux Phone.
I am an early adopter — so there are some rough areas, but —
I am largely happy with the phone.
Especially given that it is a privacy oriented phone, that is an open platform, built on open-source software, where I am in control of it.
One nice thing though — for the apps where there is no Linux alternative, you can run (some) Android apps on it.

So a few weeks ago, I got the Furilabs FLX1S. It's the successor to their original FLX1. It runs an in-house flavor of Debian Forky called FuriOS.
Now I had ordered the first one in April 2025, but, due to the chaos provided by the US and the tech industry, they were unable to manufacturer another batch. Instead they quickly pivoted, and got together a new device largely based on the same chip platform. They upgraded me automatically without any extra cost, which is nice.
So here are my thoughts after using it for a few weeks...
