Recording this with Josh was a huge amount of fun -- and it was really nice to look back on 10 years+ of #fwupd and the #LVFS. Feedback welcome!

A new #fwupd release just dropped. A little late, but with lots of good stuff. A few nice features, the usual smattering of bugfixes and quite a bit of new hardware supported too. Enjoy!
That's a lot of zeros! 135 million firmware updates supplied from the LVFS and deployed using #fwupd.
I've just pushed the button and moved the #fwupd translations from Transifex to @weblate
We're planning a new release in a few days and it would be *wonderful* to get the translations looking beautiful before that.
Thank you all my clever 2nd, 3rd and 4th language friends! All the new functionality is available here: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/fwupd/fwupd/
A few hours ago Microsoft dropped a new dbx that resolves CVE-2025-47827. If you're running #fwupd >= 1.9.28 the fix is as simple as "fwupdmgr refresh && fwupdmgr update" although it might take an hour or so for all the CDN endpoints to catch up.
I've uploaded both the x64 and ia32 versions -- but only the former is in the stable remote. The "i386" version is 100% untested as I don't actually own any 32 bit UEFI hardware -- and there doesn't appear to be any in the Red Hat QA system either.
I need your help naming things!
In Windows Update every client requests the list of updates from a server as a bespoke query. This means you can limit the updates per day -- just from the server response.
As #fwupd is a decentralised system (with a global CDN and with local mirrors), everyone gets the same list of available updates mostly all at the rough same time.
He visto en #reddit un guión para actualizar ¿todos? los mandos de #8BitDo. Usa #fwupd.
Curioso que no sube los firmware al proyecto. Que, creo, cuesta dinero. Sí, pero tampoco es un pastón.

¿Lo has probado, @edlinks ?
@da_667 you know you sell people a bunch of pc butfor medium biz they really can benefit from stuff like debian, dual nas, opnsense, pihole, - the basics but also faster networking, ids/ips system, pkt cap 24/7, even ssl proxy, rsync backups to nvme. having more visibility into the network allows organizations to leverage the data that piles up in the db as well as real time. a point needs to be made for the minimum raw basic infrastructure and then orgs can realize gestalt #p2v #fwupd #elk stack scripting #dashboards #centralized logs #netbox #zeek #snort #sigs
Does anyone want to help out with an important open source project like #fwupd?
We're always short of reviewers to look at patches and provide comments -- and from personal experience -- reviewing other peoples code is a great way to pick up tips and tricks and make yourself a better programmer.
If this sounds interesting, and a potential first step on an open source adventure let me know. Some of the PRs are simple and you don't need to be any kind of code wizard.

Although the new PQ key needs a new LVFS-CA-2025PQ.pem to be deployed onto the client (which will be included by default in the next #fwupd release) the old CA is still good until 2047-08-01.
Some customers have a requirement to *only* trust the PQ signatures and for that use case fwupd now supports OnlyTrustPostQuantumSignatures=true in fwupd.conf
Quite some three days in the #fwupd project! 12 files changed, 1047 insertions(+), 37 deletions(-)
This lets us build and parse a QEMU (EDK2) pstore containing a VSS2 authenticated variable store and fault tolerant working block store from scratch. Although it's kinda possible with random tools on the internet (including dd, openssl and bits of libvirt) it's inflexible, inefficient and in some cases just plain wrong.
