I wrote up one of my old game ideas.

A few years back I found the concept of "gardening games" by @maxkreminski.

The point is not literal "gardening" but rather a deeper way to interact/relate to procedural content, pretty much by inverting the idea of a 4X game. Instead of arriving at a beautiful, believable, "wild" landscape and exploiting it to bits, the player works with the environment system to enhance it.

E.g. the same way a gardener works with/within nature: collecting seeds, growing seedlings, moving self-set plants, removing weeds, composting waste, pruning, improving soil.

It's a beautiful idea that captures something I hunger for in games, but rarely find...

This particular take is literally gardening, which is not required, but works as a jumping off point.

I've got an idea for a demo for #WorldFabric: #MoonPong. It's just regular Pong, but played over the network with simulated latency as though one of the players is on the Moon. The automatic time warp the engine does would be extreme enough to easily see, and the game would be so simple I could use it as a tutorial for the engine. I could pay the fee to drop it on Steam as a free download and rig it up to do peer to peer without port forwarding over the Valve backbone.

Here's a #gameidea: Hummingbird Volleyball. It's a multiplayer VR game where you fly with your arms and you have a beak that moves with your head movement to hit the ball. It's super difficult, causes motion sickness, and you look really dumb playing it. #Streamers will love it for some reason, and I could make it in like 3 months.

#GameIdea Punch-Out, but you only punch nazis (lemme know if this already exists!)

Each stage is divided into two phases. In phase one, 3 cards each with different people are shown, one will obviously be a nazi. Repeat twice with nazi harder to spot. The faster you punch the nazi the more perks you will have in phase two. Where you have to beat a nazi boss (punch-out style).

However, if you don' t beat the nazi boss, the regular people you didn't punch will step in and beat the boss with you.

I called out Monday-today, with my voice gone, throat sore, and a fever. I slept most of both days. It's kinda sucked. But I did dream about a whole-ass game! So, #GameIdea!

Permanent world extraction shooter. Pick a PMC employer per excursion for a range of contracts, missions, specific bot protection, perk(s). Extract to yours, squad's, and guild's bases. Die? Go to prison camp & wait (1? 2? real world) days until your PMC buys your freedom, or you escape via The Escapists-style shenanigans.

This is for a desert roguelike, where you create the enemies that block your path

A roguelike where you control a group of pilgrims crossing a cursed desert. You don’t travel as a group though, you play each pilgrim individually, they’re effectively like lives.

This desert is completely barren with literally nothing of note, just a destination waaaaay up off screen. And every tile that you step, your pilgrim takes one point of damage. The first guy is doomed to die, and when that happens, events are uncovered nearby, like you might find an oasis, ruins, a town, a wandering merchant, that sort of thing. Then future guys can use those to heal / collect items then travel further.

But also when someone dies, they leave behind a skeleton that is now an enemy who will use the items that your pilgrim held against you. So in a way, you create the enemies. And a lot of the strategy comes in what items do you pickup, and what do you do with them? For example, you might find dynamite, which has the effect that the holder instantly dies when they take fire damage. Normally, this would be a terrible item, but since you created all the enemies thus far, you know none of them attack with fire damage. Then when this guy inevitably dies, future guys can easily kill their skeleton by simply bringing a match to explode the dynamite that the skeleton is holding.So the game is all about buffing yourself and particularly your future selves without creating too much of a hazard when the pilgrim dies. You need to be careful what you pick up, because you can’t drop items (at least not without a shovel to bury them). And you’re trying to build synergies not just for now, but for future runs too. Like there could be an item which when used gives the opponent an item from your inventory. You could use it to give an opponent something negative, or if you’re really smart, you could choose to die with a health potion + that item, then the skeleton will freely give you the health potion when it tries to fight you, how kind of it!

I'd imagine simple combat with a greater focus on picking which items you take, to build synergies both for now and the future. Both you and the enemies have three inventory slots. On each turn, you see the items they have and which one they're choosing to use this turn. You can hover over them to see descriptions and you pick which of your items you use. An empty slot is just a basic 1 damage punch. You go first each turn and know what they'll do after you act, so can take advantage of that. Repeat turns until someone's dead, hopefully not you. So you only have three options each turn, most of the strategy happens outside of battle choosing where to go and what items to collect

You can control selection of design elements (style, texture, colour, shape, material) or let the system tick over and select on timeout

ProcAvatars walk the catwalk to reward the player each turn based on how well they've matched or disrupted the zeitgeist

Time periods are from the distant past far into the future where it's a galactic event for energy beings and androids

Encounter events can occur each turn ranging from geopolitical disruption to supply chain and tech tree decisions.

You play as a heavy wrecker & rotator crew and you have to flip semis and trailers over and recover their loads. Earn money based on how fast you can do it, and how little additional damage you do to the tractor and cargo.

So hear me out: Citizen Sleeper but it's an urban fantasy/horror game where you can play either as a werewolf or a vampire (or possibly other supernatural creatures) - and it greatly affects your options (even to the point whether you can go out at day at all).

OK, @TheZooLady got a thought stuck in my head, and it led to the following #GameIdea seed based off of #EscoponeEscoba:

SETUP:
1. Remove all face cards from the deck. (This is based on the two app versions of #Scopa that I play which use the cards 1-10. Shuffle the remaining cards.
2. Deal a 5x5 grid of cards onto the table, face-up.
3. Set the remaining cards aside to form the stock.

PLAY:
1. Remove as many cards from the table as possible, going vertically or horizontally, in groups that add up to 15.
2. When all possible combinations of cards have been removed, I see 2 possible approaches to filling the blanks with the stock:
2a. Move all cards remaining in the grid down to the bottoms of their columns, then all the way left. Fill the remaining spaces, working up and right.
2b. Just fill each blank space with a card, then use the movement pattern from 2a to ensure the cards are as consolidated as possible.
3. Regardless how step 2 is achieved, return to step 1.

WINNING CONDITIONS:
If you *really* want to make the game hard, all cards must be removed from the grid. More forgiving ideas are to have no more than 11 cards remaining (a nod to the common score limit of Scopa) or 15 (a nod to the 15 required to remove a set from the board.
Thoughts welcome, but adding a poll as well here to gauge general reaction.

I could make a game called Mall Bird. You fly around a food court picking up scraps, but it's VR with motion controls for wing movement, so it's really hard just to fly straight. It would cause so much motion sickness. #gameidea

Polobbyius - Work your way through a series of maze lobbies in the style of different linimal spaces. Included are: 1) defunct dentist office with Highlights, barber chairs, and hula hoops in the waiting rooms, 2) subways with elevated shoe shine seating at the edge of the tracks, and 3) a maze version of Elevator Action in the lobby from the Matrix but the elevator doors keep moving locations any time they go behind a column.

Immersive sim detective game where after a debilidating incident, the detective is left nearly blind and possibly in a wheelchair. To continue his job as a detective he gets a service dog to assist him.

You play as the dog.

We need a cycling for transit video game. Maybe it's like food delivery or other types of delivery. A mix of Crazy Taxi and Frogger, essentially.
