Arches

A photo taken at Giverny, France, in the garden of the house where Claude Monet lived. They are beautiful and are a must seen if you are in the viscinity!

Photo format paysage d’un chemin éclairé par le soleil, dans un jardin passant sous des arches végétalisées. Il n’y a que verdure et fleurs tout autour et la silhouette d’un arbre cadrant l’image au premier plan.

First sighting of a pair of ducks this year.
I had seen the male and the female earlier but today is the first time that I saw them together. I approached carefully to say 'hello' and supply a little more breakfast, expecting them to be shy initially. They weren't - both were supremely relaxed with me and confident.
They are also used to me pointing the camera at them.
We know each other well from previous years.

The photograph shows a pair of mallard ducks on our garden pond. The male, on the left, has his beak under water, rooting for morsels of food. The female, on the right, is looking at the camera.

Darum sind Weiden solche wertvollen Pflanzen: die Silberweide mit ihren dicken Kätzchen bietet schon jetzt Nahrung für Insekten.

Some more weeds and many roots have been taken out. I still need to clean out the small heap on the side of the path, but my hands were done with the work for now... But, another patch has been cleaned up a bit more, slowly cleaning out the unwanted bits... Very slowly...

A wide shot of the garden plot showing the most significant progress yet. Almost the entire area has been cleared, revealing a large expanse of dark, turned soil. Only a small patch of overgrown weeds remains in the far back-right corner near the mesh fence. On the right side of the cleared area, just beside the stone path, sits a small heap of uprooted weeds, roots, and sand. This pile is waiting for Cynni to shake out the excess soil once their hands have had a chance to recover. The garden looks much cleaner and closer to being fully prepared for whatever they plan to plant next.
I had a very busy morning at another local seed swap, and that motivated me to get going on my cold stratification attempts. I've picked up a lot of native that would benefit from it, and I hope to use them to improve my crappy flowerbeds. The weedier varieties can go in my back fence row. Wish me luck! #nature #garden #gardening #seeds #zone6b #zone7a
Ziploc bags are arranged in two long rows. Each one contains a damp paper towel with seeds folded inside, and they will be cold-stratified in the refrigerator for a time before germination. The bags are labeled Black-eyed Susan, Brown-eyed Susan, Button Bush, Cardinalflower, Culver's Root, Cutleaf Coneflower, Downy Groundcherry, Dwarf Red Plains Coreopsis, Fireweed, Fragaria virginiana, Joe Pye Weed, Lavender, Lavender Hyssop, Marsh Blazing Star, Meadow Blazing Star, New York Ironweed, Ohio Spiderwort, Passion Vine, Purple Coneflower and Yarrow.

The front garden didn't make it unscathed through the winter time.
Due to the digging, when the heat pump was loosing pressure, and then a lot of rain, followed by heavy snow.. The ground now looks like a moon scape... It needs leveling, but I suck at leveling anything, so I'll need help...
But I first want to focus on the back garden now, due to the coming of Koa...

An overview of Cynni’s front garden, where a large patch of bright green artificial grass has been laid down. The turf sits between the red brick wall of the house and a small, brown-leafed hedge with a dark metal railing. The fake grass follows the natural dips and bumps of the ground, which stayed a bit uneven after some repair work. Beyond this patch, a grey tiled path leads toward the front door, and a neighbor's gravel garden is visible in the background.A top-down view of a small rectangular section in Cynni’s front garden. They have laid out a sheet of black weed membrane over the soil to keep things tidy. The ground underneath looks a bit bumpy and uneven from the winter weather. This area is bordered by a grey paved walkway on one side and a brick house wall with a silver downspout on the other. In the corner near the wall, a small decorative sheep figurine sits on the edge of the fabric.

This creator had the best advice I've heard all day.

Don't have a green thumb but realized what I dislike about gardening (bugs and weeding) are outdoors! I wanted to use our bay window for something useful, so we just fitted it with some grow lights! So excited!

Do you garden?

Wish You Were Here

We stopped for a break in St. John’s Church Garden where I spotted an art installation mounted on a rotary clothes line. A bit eye-catching!

Various garments and textiles are pegged to the line, including a navy top with green patches reading WISH YOU WERE, a white lace garment, items with the words ALL ALONE and Looking visible, and colourful patterned fabrics. A red wire sign reading HERE is mounted above the washing line on a pole. A weathered wooden bench sits in the foreground, surrounded by flowering garden plants including yellow blooms and red poppies, with the grey brick wall of the church behind.

I found a hidden treasure.
