Met some friends for dinner. I offered to bring fresh dill, since it grew so much with the rains we've had.

I don't think they expected me to show up with 2x gallon-sized Ziplocks stuffed with dill.

I am happy for a bountiful crop after last year's early bolting from a heatwave, but... I need space to sow my cucumbers and my basil & marigold seedlings are getting leggy! Now my friends can make a nice stroganoff with all that extra dill & I'll still have plenty for us. #gardening

A raised bed covered in boisterous fluffy dillweed. This is before I harvested the entire 1 foot by 3 foot section in the front to put my snake cucumber seeds in. Plus I took a lot off the left side, to give my basil & marigolds a chance.

The early vegetables are growing good and there is some progress on new raised beds. I need to thin the beets and probably get the melons, cucumbers, beans, and squash started indoors but I still don't trust the weather 2 weeks out. Too many side projects.

The upper right one is one third dug out and needs wood added and it is 14 feet long by 4 feet wide. The other beds is from last year and is 9x3 feet and needs last years tomatoes and this years couch grass cleaned out of it and get it ready to plant... not tomatoes if I remember right but I can't remember what for sure. Maybe melons.

Honeywort is one of my very favourite flowers. It’s so good in a cottage garden in the pnw - it self seeds nicely, survives the summer drought, and performs beautifully in the spring and autumn. Calendula is the same for me. #gardening

I'm trying to figure out how best to maintain all these native herbaceous perrenials here in the Great Lakes area and I'm running into conflicting goals.

On the one hand, it seems I'm supposed to burn (or approximate) to clear out the old dry growth and allow the sun to warm the soil early in the spring. On the other hand, the dried stems and whatnot are wintering habitat for all the little bug buddies.

Am I missing something?

The plant on the left is really a problem in my yard.
I'm pulling as much of it as I can but the damn thing is more persistent than a toxic ex!
Except that unlike an ex I don't even know its name so any help to learn more about it is most welcome!

The one on the right is less problematic but my Seek app doesn't seem to identify it properly.

This year all my tomato seedlings are not just leggy but dropping their lower leaves, with only the newest leaves green.

They're growing in a commercial seed starting medium, in two inch cells that should give them plenty of room, and they get watered regularly. There are constant fluorescent lights and a bit of sunlight from the window as well.

It's a new problem this year. Anyone got a clue what's going on here?
