A pretty blue lake on a sunny Florida day, shows trees across the left top of the photo, and the open lake across the right. Also along the top right is one of the docks along the lake (I'm assuming this is near downtown, but not certain.)

The near bank is a jumble of mid-sized partially rounded rocks, leading down to some green water plant growing in a triangular wedge out into the lake. If you look carefully you can spot the three-foot gator sunning himself at the water's edge.

Florida memories
🇺🇦UA: Раніше я до нестями боялася всіх цих зубастих рептилій. Взагалі-то, про те, що крокодил і алігатор не одне й те саме, я дізналася доволі пізно, тож довго використовувала ці слова як синоніми. Але значення це не мало, бо зустрітися з будь-ким із них я категорично не планувала.

Перед поїздкою до Флориди я, як свідома людина, вирішила підготуватися і почала шерстити сайти парків штату в пошуках якихось порад із виживання. І тут мене чекало розчарування. Замість інформації про те, що робити, якщо алігатор раптом зацікавиться мною як кулінарним експериментом, мене активно інформували про справжню загрозу Флориди. А саме Florida men - загадкове місцеве явище, через яке мене застерігали не викладати свою геолокацію в соцмережі і не спілкуватися з незнайомцями в лісі. Дякую, дуже корисно. Тобто, якщо мене зжере алігатор – це не страшно, головне, щоб нового цікавого заголовка в флоридський пресі не зʼявилося. Хоча враховуючи де оселився наш так званий президент, може вони й мали рацію…

Зрозуміло, що першу ніч я шарахалася від кожного звуку. Особливо, коли біля душу в кущах на мене витращилися червоні очі. В ту мить я пережила всі стадії прийняття смерті, але потім виявилося, що це заєць. Що він там робив і чому його очі світилися, я вирішила не з’ясовувати.

А потім ми потрапили в національний парк Еверглейдс – єдине місце, де алігатори й крокодили живуть поруч. Це стало моєю терапією страху. Бо коли ці штуки просто валяються вздовж дороги, як ліниві коти на сонці, то через якийсь момент ти перестаєш їх помічати. Спершу реагуєш: «О Боже, алігатор!», потім: «О, ще один алігатор», а десь через годину: «Так, так, ще один, ясно, ходімо далі».

P.S. жодного Florida man не було зустріто. Можливо це міфічна істота, щось на кшталт нашого Bigfoot 🤷🏼‍♀️
