Manchmal muss man etwas Glück haben: SSD Mod ausgebaut, #GDEMU ohne Karte eingebaut, SD-Adapter mit #Dreamshell angeschlossen - Dreamcast bootet tatsächlich in Dreamshell und ich kann das #BIOS neu flashen. Jetzt läuft die Kiste wieder. Puh... kommt sie morgen doch mit 😃! #Revision2025

Heute Abend endlich mal ein wenig an meiner zweiten #Sega #Dreamcast herumbasteln. Akku tauschen, Gehäuse gegen transparentes Gehäuse tauschen, #DreamPSU einbauen, Lüfter Modifikation einbauen und, last but not least, ein #GDEmu installieren.

Man sieht eine Draufsicht auf eine Sega Dreamcast. Auf der Dreamcast liegt in einer kleinen Plastiktüte ein Knopfzellen-Akku, eine Batteriehalterung und eine Sicherung. Rechts daneben liegt ein DreamPSU Netzteil, das das Originalnetzteil der Sega Dreamcast ersetzen soll.

Man sieht die Draufsicht eines transparenten Sega Dreamcast Gehäuses. Auf dem Gehäuse liegen zwei Dreamcast Aufkleber. Der eine Aufkleber hat den europäischen (blauen) Dreamcast Swirl, der Zweite den US (roten) Dreamcast Swirl.

Man sieht die aufgeklappte Verpackung eines Noctua Lüfters. In der Verpackung liegen Gummi-Abstandshalter, die den Lüfter leiser machen sollen und rechts daneben sieht man den Noctua Lüfter. Auf der Verpackung liegt ein 3D gedrucktes Teil, das zum Einbau in die Sega Dreamcast verwendet werden soll.

In der Mitte sieht man einen GD-Emu - einen GD-ROM Emulator für die Sega Dreamcast. Drumherum liegen die Teile, die für einen Einbau in die Konsole notwendig sind.

Fixed the few missing covers and added a lot of missing descriptions. All games have covers and descriptions now. Now to figure out how github works and make a pull request... #dreamcast #openmenu #gdemu #retrogaming #opensource

OpenMenu/GDEmuCardManager were missing quite alot of Japanese #dreamcast covers. Long Live #OSS! Downloaded the image db from github amd added them myself. Still 3 covers not showing up, need to figure out why. #retrogaming #gdemu #openmenu

Almost done copying. ... For the 3rd time. Had to keep removing stuff from the list so it would fit on the 256Gb micro sd card. No space for all those visual novels I would have only checked out once :(. #dreamcast #gdemu

Installed it and tested with the SD card that came with it. Now to make my own with openMenu. My Kitty still had a modchip inside, left it for now. Also, check out the pink LED :) #dreamcast #gdemu

Finally got a #GDEMU (from #aliexpress). 1st time I ordered a 5.20.3 and got a 5.15, 2nd time the package form Spain never arrived, (via DHL, probably a scam because the price was low and is no longer available after my complaint). #dreamcast #retrogaming

Gerade mal den Laser meiner zweiten #Dreamcast kalibriert. Jetzt liest sie auch wieder CD-Rs. Fragt sich nur, ob ich nicht langfristig doch besser ein #GDEmu einbauen sollte. Die Laser sind leider eine echte Schwachstelle.

Success! So happy to have this working. The drive was getting rather picky with what discs it would play and I didn't really want to adjust the laser any further than I had already over the years.

Was a little fiddly to slot the 2 parts of the bracket together. The SD extender is quite tight. Also curious why the slot for a spare SD card isn't deep enough to stop it from noticeably ending the Disc tray lid if you use it. Seems to be a problem with pretty much all using this mount design. Guess the original design of the 3D print model never tested that bit and it's not been updated since.

Anyway, all fitted in. Time to put it all back together and test it out! #Dreamcast #GDEMU

Dreamcast with a GDEMU and Mount fitted. The Mount has two slots on the top to fit an SD card and a spare (which doesn’t actually fit!). There’s an additional large button with a Dreamcast swirl design that can be used to swap discs for multi-disc games.

Today's star of the show, the GDEMU. Seems weird to see the exposed pins for the SD card slot. So used to there always being a metal shield around it on other devices.

The main part is the GD-ROM drive, which is about to be replaced.

@lucky Nice. I really should get one of those. I don't have many #dreamcast games, but a #GDemu would probably make it easier for me to run NetBSD.

I've just installed #GDemu finally. An SD card reader and game loader to replace my #dreamcast disc drive! The painful part is getting games onto a regular SD card (no microSD supported) with my current computing setup, which as you may recall is only a Steam Deck. I have nearly 200gb of games that I'd like to have on there, but I'm starting with seven gigs... and it's still pretty slow.

I am having a whole lot of problems with the #Dreamcast #GDEMU clone I have: audio has pops and the error LED is flashing a bunch, and it seems to crash going into a game. I've tried a few different SD cards, some brand new, with the same problems.

Anyone have any ideas?
