EU threatens to fine Meta for saying Facebook is ‘free’
The European Union has notified Meta its “pay or consent” model for Facebook and Instagram might violate consumer protection laws. The EU’s Consumer Protection Cooperation Network says the company has until September 1st, 2024, to propose changes to its model, which it calls “misleading” and “confusing” for users, or face potential fines

#GDRP #microsoft - is this for real, that when I contact Microsoft they say they are unable to change/update my data (country, email, phone number) due to mess in the systems which they dont udnerstand? FYI: #Microsoft hat beschlossen, dass die #Windows-Standardeinstellung von #BitLocker ("Transparent operation mode") so ist, dass jede Person an die Daten rankommt, solange das Speichermedium nicht aus dem Computer ausgebaut wird.
Man muss also manuell auf "User authentication mode" (Wissen) und/oder "USB Key Mode" (Besitz) wechseln:

According to the European Digital Rights article 9 prohibits the "registration?" of people’s:
* political views
* philosophical convictions
* sexual relations
* sexual orientations
Those first two are extremely vague. Could we see a racist claiming that you shouldn't be storing their views on racism because that's "political"?
Also warning if you go web searching for this you'll find a lot of shitty transphobic websites, they all seem to be quite happy with themselves for getting this extension banned in Norway.

Norway is banning «Shinigami Eyes» after a complaints from WDI Norge a terf organisation that operates in Norway with assistance from Electronic Frontier Norway which is very surprising to me.
Datatilsynet states that:
"We believe that «Shinigami Eyes» has no legal basis for the processing of personal data, and we therefore intend to impose a ban on the browser extension in Norway"
