I find not very surprising the conclusion of this study that #GenerativeAI coding agents slow down experienced developers by 19%. But I didn't expect them believing the #AI made them faster even after the slowdown. https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study/

"As AI-generated content becomes more common online, concerns about its impact are growing. Some users worry about the spread of misinformation, especially as it becomes easier to generate convincing but entirely AI-fabricated videos.
“Even if the content is informative and someone might find it entertaining or useful, I feel we are moving into a time where ... you do not have a way to understand what is human-made and what is not,” said Henry Ajder, founder of Latent Space Advisory, which helps businesses navigate the AI landscape.
Others are frustrated by the sheer volume of low-effort AI content flooding their feeds. This kind of material is often referred to as “AI slop” — low-quality, randomly generated content made using artificial intelligence.
“The age of slop is inevitable,” said Ajder, who is also an AI policy advisor at Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram. “I’m not sure what we do about it.”
While it’s not new, the surge in this type of content has led to growing criticism from users who say it’s harder to find meaningful or original material, particularly on apps such as TikTok, YouTube and Instagram."

"DeepSeek could soon disappear from Apple and Google's official app stores in Germany as data protection officials accuse the Chinese chatbot of alleged privacy violations.
"DeepSeek's transfer of user data to China is unlawful," said Berlin Data Protection Commissioner Meike Kamp, in an official announcement dated June 27, 2025. Kamp has called on the Big Tech giant to consider blocking the app in the country.
Another EU member, Italy, already banned Deepseek from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in January 2025 over similar grounds. The block was enforced about a week after the release of the ChatGPT rival.
According to German authorities, the company behind DeepSeek AI (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd) violates Art. 46 (1) of the GDPR, which rules the need for "appropriate safeguards" when transferring EU citizens' personal data to a third country.
According to Kamp, DeepSeek failed to convince German officials that users' data is protected when these details are transferred to China, as expected by EU laws."

I helvete då? Skal ikkje Tekna liksom vere ei _fagforeining_? Burde ikkje dei ha eit _litt_ meir skeptisk forhald til generativ AI? No vart eg rett og slett skuffa.
🧠 Finalmente si sta dismettendo il concetto di "prompt engineering" e si parla di "context engineering".. e non è una questione di termine: l'importante è comprendere il significato.

I have a slightly but significantly different take on AI than "we shouldn't be submissive in anticipation because of the fear of being left out" or "it'll go away".
AI (or, the current general public interpretation of it) is a genie pulled out of the magic lamp by pouring billions and billions of dollars by the collective corporate machinery. Whether we like it or not, it's getting shoved into every aspect of modern life.
IMHO, it's delusional to think it'll go away on its own, or due to failing tech, or due to being ignored, etc. That ship sailed long ago. It might, but likely, won't. That's where we are now. We know the beast—unethical, wasteful, intrusive, biased, insufficiently accurate, etc.The beast is here, it's real.
At the same time, remember that the AI industry made any meaningful changes—dragging its feet and all—due to public pressure. Therefore, asking the public to withdraw its participation is counterproductive.
Whether we like it or not, we'll have AI in our lives. Our choice is: do we give up our agency by avoiding participation in the AI discourse or not—again, IMHO.
I choose 'not'. The attitude of surety in the lines of "will never be elected president" is not something we can afford, especially not in my part of the world—pretty much the same as climate change for us.
In the absence of regulation or policy, public participation is vital to get there. I will use AI—I will have to. So will you. It's no longer something we can opt out of. Let's at least do that on our own terms.
#AI brings people together, #GenerativeAI tears them apart.
What is this with 'scary' replacing 'frightening', 'terrifying', 'petrifying,' 'horrifying' etc?
This banal childhood word used to belong to matinee movies and school plays. Now it is used to describe climate catastrophes, global technological threats and mass human tragedies.
Is this why we ignore the seriousness, the gravity of current global crises? Are we becoming childish? Do we not grasp the immensity of what is happening in the world today? Or do we use such dumbed-down words as protection, as a cover, as denial, to make ourselves feel better?
