Tracks of "reptiles" hits the news, as they are preserved in the Carboniferous rocks in the Mansfield region of Australia (which happens to be my favourite place). And found by amateur geologists. And it is the oldest evidence of reptiles in the world.

Today, the kids and I descended into an underground wonderland full of stalactites, flowstones, rimstone pools, and more! Stump Cross Caverns is an absolute dream for a geology lover like me—every twist and turn revealed another breathtaking formation.

And that's a wrap on the field season for my tungsten-molybdenum reconnaissance project! We're investigating and sampling historical tungsten and molybdenum producers and prospects in the Mojave as part of a federal and state funded critical minerals initiative (USGS EarthMRI). Part of this work will be investigating age of mineralization of these types of systems with an eye for Cenozoic magmatism. Lots of beautiful skarn mineralization and pretty garnet and epidote in abundance.

This project is in conjunction with similar work being done by the Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas geological surveys.

More to come!

I started my talk yesterday woth some wonderful building stone - this is part of Scrivens Conduit and is part of a wonderful art trail created by Voices Gloucester as well being an amazing piece of history and a pretty thing in a park and of course the geology! The rock contains lots of shelly fragments and O think would be from Painswick voicesgloucester.org.uk/monume #fossils #limestone #shells #rocksROCK #geologyROCKS #gloucester

The Slot: a hidden gem where the earth whispers secrets and the light dances in mesmerizing patterns. Hiking through this narrow canyon is like stepping into another world. The towering walls, the smooth curves carved by centuries of water...it's a testament to the power and artistry of nature. Don't miss this incredible experience!

Beginnings of a new project sampling W and Mo deposits of SoCal. We’re evaluating the age of mineralization and geochemical characteristics compared to similar deposits in across the desert southwest.

⛰️ Did you know the Rockies began forming 70 million years ago? Colorado’s peaks & canyons are shaped by tectonic forces and erosion over millions of years! 🌍

You've heard of Worry Stone, but have you seen Worry Meteorite?

This is a stony chondrite that has been tumble-polished.

It makes an ideal worry stone, paperweight, or hand specimen.

It measures approx. 5cm in diameter and weighs approx. 60 grams. It shows a large prominent chondrule and several smaller chondrules and metal inclusions.
