I've been thinking about this for a while. With Venezuelan oil and Greenland's REEs, the Western Hemisphere could become self-sufficient in terms of material resources. I'm not sure why we, as a hemisphere, would want to do that, but personally I wouldn't make any long-term investments in transoceanic shipping
