Looking for work. Part-time permanent, or contract work specifically.

Remote work is welcome, I am based in Sydney Australia and will be working during daylight hours here, but not necessarily 9am-5pm.

I am a software developer that likes clean code and functional programming.

Most of my experience has been as a full stack web developer and I have years of experience in both organisations as well as a freelancer, working directly with clients.

I am proficient across the entire stack: HTML, CSS + preprocessors, JavaScript + frameworks, SQL, Node, Python, Linux, Bash, Docker and more.

My favourite languages are Rust and Elm, and I have professional experience in both.

I am happy to learn anything to fill in the gaps, and I am confident I can. I have always enjoyed learning about the problem space that the software operates in, thinking about the "why" behind what I am doing makes the work more meaningful.

Ok all I'm basically over my current job as a community college adjunct. So I'm looking for new employment and I'm going to try #getfedihired .

I'm an adjunct Geography prof of the last 7 years. This means class creation, coursework development, and being responsive to my students needs. On the tech side I tend to be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint since that is what the school uses. But I also do much of my work in Libreoffice Writer and then export it to Word...

SIE PlayStation UK is hiring a test engineer. You have to be a UK resident, and not terribly far from Bristol; the position should be majority remote AFAIK. I think the pay should be at least 50k GBP annually.

The job entails being a flexible special agent who gets assigned to different PlayStation software engineering teams as needed to help bring projects to life. That includes possibly helping my team for a while. Management might ask you to travel to a different team's office to consult with them directly, but that's dumb in this age of remote work and it may be possible to wiggle out of it if the other team agrees there's no point coming all the way over.

Everyone I've worked with are quite pleasant folk, and the work is definitely not boring. Although there's a long list of skills in the advert, honestly if you can hit half of the items you're already a top contender. From my perspective, the hardest requirement is to just have a couple years of software testing under your belt, messing with different systems.
