Love this old Guinness advert mural of the old Crown Flour Mills cart entrance on Washington Street in Glasgow. It's been painted on the wooden board which covers it, and you can still see the ghost signs for the mill above it.

The original poster was created by the artist John Gilroy, who worked for the advertising agency S.H. Benson. The Guinness for Strength campaign was first launches in 1934.

Love this homage to the Jeely Piece Song from A Sign of Humour on Dougrie Place in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.

Written by Adam McNaughtan in the 1960s, the Jeely Piece Song is a critique of widescale demolition of Glasgow's traditional tenements and their replacement by high rise flats. As a side note, police boxes were invented by Glaswegian Fireman Charles Edgar in 1891, but until the 1960s, those in the city were red rather than the blue we now associate them with.

The surviving elements of the late 1970s Garnethill Mural Project established by the artist John Kraska, who died earlier this week. This was one of the first community-based projects in Glasgow to create murals on exposed gable ends of the city's tenements as part of a scheme to improve the local environment.
