This is done, and I'm pleased. 18 inches long. Dark transparent purple with applied and raked trails of marbled light opaque blue. The inspiration was a Hellenistic glass bead necklace in the Israel Museum, in cobalt blue with wavy white trailing, but as I was working, it evolved: more like antique Venetian beads.#glass #lampwork #handmade #jewelry #hotglass #glassart #glassartist #studioglass #handmadeglass #arthistory #glasshistory #venetianglass #handmademarket #handmadeoregon #handmadegifts
Whenever I'm between projects, I'll make an "evil eye" bead... or two...or three. This one, made using blue, yellow and teal Murano glass, is based on examples common starting about 600 BC, through the Carthaginian, Hellenistic Greek & Roman periods, all over the Mediterranean world. I find this color combination especially pleasing. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1403939463/handmade-lampwork-evil-eye-bead-in-blue?click_key=ec1972dd80283b226b5028b05305c204ec3af298%3A1403939463&click_sum=6b8bff40&ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1 #glass #glassart #glassartist #evileye #evileyebead #glasshistory #arthistory #lampwork #lampworkbeads #handmadeglass #oregon #studioglass
