These Tiny Actions Could Give Your Life Real Meaning, a Psychologist Explains
I know it’s February already and many of use have long-abandoned our resolutions, but researchers have identified steps to not only help you keep them going for longer, but also build more meaning into your day-to-day life. The TL;DR:
One of my goals this year is to seek improvement rather than stagnation for skills that I've learned. Cooking is one of those things that I'd like to get better at. I got a few pointers from my mom and sister, so I'm ready to try stuff this week. I'll be posting food pics more often!

Stop re-commiting.
Stop re-starting.
Stop wishing.
Stop watching others' success.
Commit once.
Execute.
Don't stop.
The cycle of stopping and restarting ain't getting you anywhere.
Destroy this unproductive pattern immediately.

A quotation from Teddy Roosevelt
Far better it is to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) American politician, statesman, conservationist, writer, US President (1901–1909)
Speech (1899-04-10), “The Strenuous Life,” Hamilton Club, Chicago

Met someone today whilst networking who was talking about goal-setting, etc. He asked me and the other gal in the breakout room what our goals are for the end of Feb.
Her: "I want to increase my email list by 50 and get 2 new clients."
Me: "I want to finish this course I'm working on, and finish creating the marketing strategy I'm working with a strategist on."
His comment, rushed just as the breakout room ended, was that her goal was spot on, because it's measurable. I, however, apparently need to adjust mine to be measurable.
🤔
I think some people don't understand what measurable means.
Either I'll finish the course and making the strategy, or I won't: it can be measured.
Perhaps he was so focused on looking for a number that he missed that the number for each is 1.
Or maybe he's more used to outcome goals (like hers), whereas I almost only ever set input goals, because that's the bit I can control (my goal is to do X, which I hope will result in Y, but whether it does or not, if I've done X, I've met my goal).
Also, after decades at this, I've concluded that goal-setting is highly unique to the individual. It's amazing how many people assume that what works for them will work for you, whole cloth. It generally doesn't.
