Pathfinder finally finding her way into (modern) Transformers representation is a moment of joy.

The blue suits this Cosmos mold better than the green, I think. #GobotBias

Transformation is finely poised between simple and interesting. I especially love how bam!-economical the heel design is.

Alt mode still looks hilariously like a cook pot on a travel stove but this is a legacy of Cosmos' cartoon-based design aethetic that I can easily forgive, mostly because I love to laugh. For anyone unfamiliar: it is meant to be a UFO. #BestDisguiseEver

Cosmos came with a flag because of a weirdly race-themed selection of toys (see: Speedia) -race as in competitive sport- but here it proudly displays the Gobot Guardians logo for the first time on a toy since, what, the 80s? A magnificent detail.

I frikkin love me some Gobots.

Pathfinder converted into Robot mode, now holding the weapon as a flag. Conversion introduced a lot of yellow into the figure, on facing arm panels and legs and hip-plates. The head is a red fez-like shape with a yellow face-plate and striking blue eyes. The black has receded leaving blue and yellow as the colour scheme. Neat trick. She's tubby in this mode but that just makes her more adorable.

#Deskbot today is a revisit to one of my all-time favourite characters, the Gobot Renegade, Crasher!

This beautiful Gobot update, believe it or dinna, was released in the Transformers toy line under the Velocitron Speedia subline, Hasbro brazenly using the name they own with the colour scheme they don't (though not as a mainline release, lol, and heavily purplised in her packaging art).

It was also a release that bypassed the UK almost entirely, much to this Crasher-worshipper's frustration. I had to source mine from Australia, of all places, and still got it cheaper than local eBay was selling it for!

Yesterday I finally got around to applying her Toyhax sticker set and thought she deserved another whirl before the camera to show off her new glitz and glamour. 🥰

It's a set that mostly works. It makes her Robot mode a touch too busy for my liking, but her car mode absolutely shines under all that designer livery. I do love having both of her names adorning her fins, in recognition of Hasbro's first attempt to sneak her out under the name 'Fracture' in the 2007 movie toyline, which also kinda suits her given her earthquake-causing powers.

Crasher in robot mode with all stickers applied. The stickers move her deco closer to the original Gobot toy design, while also embellishing with lashings of technical detail such as applying a Chrome finish to vents and wheel trims.

If you magnify this image on her face you'll see some of the tiniest stickers ever applied to give her face a touch more of that original look, narrowing her mouth/jaw and adding pointed mask lines beneath her eyes.

The Crasher toy back in May, unadorned. Flat colours and only a 01 on her chest to provide a vague stab at detailing.

The assets you see is not mee and i am still following a tutorial that is a bit slow paced to my liking but i am getting the hold of the basics and year for more. I am thinking of expanding the 2D platformer at the start with heart meters and such to flex on my scripting muscules. Its written with Gobot and the Gobot script. But i am aiming to switch to Gobot C# because C++ and C# is what i already know from robot development.

I wonder, should I record working on the scripts too and share that? maybe do a little voice over?

Transformers Generations Legacy Velocitron G2 Crasher posed pointing her rifle at the camera (it's very blurry so.must be really close) and with her other hand pointing at a collection of sticker sheets. Patience of a Rabid Saint Bernard, that one.

A very special #Gobot themed #Deskbots today. These are all toys I owned as a boy, lost to time, so I'm *thrilled* to own them again.

From left to right:
Spay-c (no relation to Kevin)
Rest-Q ("Rescue", geddit?)
Spoons (???)
Water Walk (The perfect Easter purchase 😋)

Spay-c is what used to be known as a "Space Shuttle", a vehicle used to hop into orbit and back. The US had five of them (name them all without googling); two were named after Star Trek series, one after a Stargate series.

Now, a fascinating piece of trivia here is looking at the early development of what became Transformers. This concept art has been unearthed for a character called "Muffy" (short for Muffler). That robot mode looks VERY close to what was released as Bug Bite, doesn't it? Meaning it's possible the design changed hands early on, and possibly Marvel *rejected* this mold in favour of the micro-change toy that would become Bumblebee.

Concept art of "Muffy" changing from car mode to Robot. Noticeably this VW Beetle is a convertivle and doesnt have the large ponderous head Bug Bite has. So where Muffy's face/eyes would have appeared on the toy is a bit of a guess. But those arms asre classic Bug Bite though woth friendlier hands instead of pincers.

Since these Halcyon days Volkswagen became very particular about licensing out their vehicle designs to companies who made, in their words, "War Toys". Can't think why a German company would be so squeamish...

The irony here is that in the cartoon every Gobot was capable of firing energy blasts from their clenched fists, neatly avoiding the need to provide tiny lose-able weapons for their toys. Why this toy had them we'll never know.

Like this guy! Bug Bite!

One of the "super" Gobots from the OG toyline, larger figures with more detail than the regular line, he's one of my all-time favourites. Not only for his resemblance to iconic Transformer, Bumblebee, but for his unashamedly retro look: the pincer hands, the blank windscreen face...it's so gloriously 1970s design ethos it makes me weep joyous human tears.

Hardly a surprise that the #GuardiansoftheGalaxyHolidaySpecial was going to be good, but I REALLY loved this. Mantis has almost a Judy Tenuta-like vibe, and it rocks. 😆

Must have been nice to be able to make a total fun, no-compromises, unapologetic "holiday special" and just go all-in on the camp and holiday schmaltz. It just meshes so well together with Guardians, surprisingly.

...though I thought it was interesting that Mantis knew what a #GoBot was... 😉
