@agowa338 @rasteri @ActionRetro Yeah, the #GOTEK #SFR1M44 is commonplace because of that problem.
- Like a lot of stitching and weaving machines that are 40-50+ years old rely on FDDs internally and replacing those with USB flashdrives is a no-brainer.
I mean, @TechTangents took a look at one of those #USB - #ISA Adapters which are only useful for storage really, as booting those is flaky at best...
The #Gotek floppy emulator has also arrived, pretty nice lunchbreak
Finally convinced myself to buy a #gotek so I can emulate these dreaded HP floppy drives before my Sony MP-F52W-30 gives out.
Will be an interesting exercise to get the config going with #flashfloppy
I hope #f4mi gets herself a set a pair of #GOTEK|s, a flashdrive and a USB-FDD Adaptor board instead of this insanity...

Had a fun weekend getting stuck into my trash picked #retro PC.
It is running, BIOS updated and some OS's installed (inc #FreeDOS). CPU/RAM upgrades in the post.
Everything mostly working, but I can't test the floppy (I've no disks) and I have yet to test the SB Audigy SE sound card. But the MB LAN connector appears faulty - a connected cable causes the PC to turn off if it is used.
CPU: Pentium D 925 3GHz
RAM: 2GB
HDD: 250GB
And my #Gotek drive was essential!

Retrofitted an OLED screen into my external Gotek drive and very happy with it. It costed like 4 euros and was much easier to do than I expected. Just cut some plastic spacers inside with a scalpel, hold the screen in place with a double sided tape and plug in the cables. #amiga #RetroComputing #gotek
I may service it (the encoder wheel has become useless and some buttons do not work) and install a #Gotek disk emulator. The sequencer is quite capable and I can split the keyboard in multiple sections or layers routed to multiple MIDI outputs. It’s a very competent machine that can definitely become the center of some #DAWless sessions. #music
