This is an excellent investigative report on Doug Ford and the #GreenbeltScandal. The back room dealing is blatant with obvious insider information being provided for the benefit of a few privileged developers. Ford didn't reverse course because of public outcry - he backed down because he was being investigated by the RCMP. Public opinion means nothing but jail time is a real motivator.

A leaked video in 2018 showed Ford telling a room of developers that he'd “open a big chunk” of the Greenbelt. After that was revealed, Ford pivoted and made an unequivocal promise: “We won’t touch the Greenbelt.” In 2022 Ford started to open big chunks of the Greenbelt, defending it as necessary for housing and that the protected lands were a big scam & a failed policy.
