So, it's time to start making the democracy sausage. Since the start of the #election2025 campaigning (back in like October) the Wills #Greens campaign office has been a steady hive of activity, with people calling, organising, meeting and doing stuff at all hours. We've got a real chance of ousting the current CIA-backed, Israel friendly, do-nothing #Labor member and getting another Greens candidate into the lower house, so we've been campaigning, as Tom Gleeson might say, HARD.
I'm not too keen on talking (IRL) to randoms about #ausPol, so I've stayed away from doorknocking and calling, instead I've been cooking succulent meals for hungry vols, putting up corflutes, welding frames for giant signs and building A-frames for election day.
Tomorrow I'm booth-captaining for a local booth, which means that I've been herding vollies into getting trained up and ready to go on the how-to-votes tomorrow, as well as covering the local primary school with the dreaded bunting and corflutes.
Then I'll spend all day smiling at punters and shoving paper into their hands, followed by scrutineering once the polls close. Not exactly looking forward to it, I'd rather spend the weekend chilling in the shed, but I will be satisfied when it's all done that I've been more than a spectator.
