A fortunate series of events took place in these last two days.

I thought I dropped my phone outside as I was on my way in at #sunset, so i searched outside with my flashlights.

My #neighbor was bringing her #doggy out for potty time and struck up a conversation. She invited me on a #walk this morning.

She had noticed a #hunter's stand in our back yard, so she brought me to investigate it. I should figure out how it got there...

Then she showed me #ferns by the side of a path she had mown in her own yard — I had no idea there were ferns this near me! — and she kindly dug one for me to #transplant.

There were so many #birds! (At the end of our walk, a #migration of thousands flew over us.)

And when we got back to her house, she also dug up a few plants as #groundcover for me, as I had admired them, and she let me take a handful of #seeds from the only remaining #birch tree on her plot to sow as I see fit.

I must have a dozen new plant species to incorporate into the #forest, now!

What's more? She wants to help me bridge our back yards with her other neighbor to create a neighborly #park for #leisure!

I am STOKED for #springtime! What a great #autumn #adventure I've had!

Known as an excellent pioneer plant to rewild disturbed grounds. #PioneerPlants are plants that are often used to start many #rewilding efforts in areas where the soil isn't great & has suffered damages. It doesn't do too well in full shade. Very #ColdResistant & #DroughtResistant, once established - it's been found in mountain elevations to desert environments.

A good choice for a #ClimateActionGarden.

The seeds are edible & can be ground up into flour but they're too small for the effort. It's mainly used as animal #fodder & it attracts lots of #pollinators 👍
