Came across the app ProofMode in the Guardian Project repository for F-Droid. Cool photo app that automatically creates a hash of pictures or videos you take and can share that with others.

I have no need for it personally, that I can think of now, but it's nice to know it exists.

Now that #Signal is in the #GuardianProject #FDroid repo, I did a clean reinstall to switch to that version and noticed this while setting it up fresh for the first time in literal years. Some of the custom icon options are obviously aimed at obscuring the fact that you have Signal installed. Handy for those with abusive spouses, dissidents or travelers whose phones might get inspected, etc.

design principle is really about mass user adoption and simplicity of code, correct?

For example, tor browser is best with sse2 instruction set (which single core does not have) rather than mobile cortex (which is 64 bit and there is mobile #tor #GuardianProject). The deluxe CPU always can output better math, no?

A fully robust #Veilid #network would likewise preference latest laptop and desktop hardware. When a CPU class strength like the new Snapdragons are available in mobile, maybe there will be not that much of a difference.

But the cellular tower networks have particularities that a homestation LAN would not have. There are #baseband weaknesses and #SS7, as well as foundational proprietary firmware and drivers from Google or Apple that might undermine system integrity. But perhaps there are strengths in cellular networks that the designers of the Veilid network are aware of. Still, #mobile is more resistant to #EMI attacks (rf interference)
