Song for My Father is a 1965 album by the Horace Silver Quintet, released on the Blue Note label in 1965. The album was inspired by a trip that Silver had made to Brazil. The cover artwork features a photograph of Silver's father, John Tavares Silver, to whom the title composition was dedicated. "My mother was of Irish and Negro descent, my father of Portuguese origin," Silver recalls in the liner notes: "He was born on the island of Maio, one of the Cape Verde Islands."

AllMusic reviewer Steve Huey praised the album:

One of Blue Note's greatest mainstream hard bop dates, Song for My Father is Horace Silver's signature LP and the peak of a discography already studded with classics...it hangs together remarkably well, and Silver's writing is at his tightest and catchiest.

The album was identified by Scott Yanow in his AllMusic essay "Hard Bop" as one of the 17 Essential Hard Bop recordings

Cannonball in Europe! is a live album by jazz saxophonist Cannonball Adderley recorded at the Comblain-la-Tour in Belgium and released on the Capitol label featuring performances by Adderley with Nat Adderley, Yusef Lateef, Joe Zawinul, Sam Jones and Louis Hayes.

The Penguin Guide to Jazz states "Bringing in Joe Zawinul and Yusef Lateef energised the band anew but Lateef's touches of exotica are an awkward match for the sunnier disposition of the customary material, Nevertheless Nippon Soul and In Europe are perhaps the best of this bunch". The Allmusic review by Al Campbell awarded the album 4 stars and states "Cannonball Adderley is in excellent form on this live date" - Wikipedia

The New Scene of King Curtis is an album by saxophonist King Curtis recorded for the New Jazz label in 1960. The album features Nat Adderley who performed under the pseudonym "Little Brother" on the original release due to contractual restrictions.

Eugene Chadbourne's review on AllMusic states: "for the 1960 recording, Curtis is accompanied by two-thirds of a famous Miles Davis rhythm section as well as a drummer who eventually became prominent on the Parisian swing scene ... Chambers and Kelly can not be too strongly emphasized as components of this brilliant group, carrying over their assets to the Curtis session as if shifting boxes from one side of a garage to another"

Bill Evans - Interplay

Jim Hall is featured so much on this great album that I'm surprised he's not considered the leader.

Anyway, great new mastering on OJC/Craft of this 1962 classic with Evans (piano), Hall (guitar), Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Percy Heath (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums).

Essential music, mastering, pressing, and if you've only got an old copy, worth the upgrade.

A pak jazzovým aficionados nabídl zcela jinou interpretační polohu – dechberoucí a přetékající intimní vřelostí.

A New Perspective is a 1964 studio album by jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd. It was released on the Blue Note label as BLP 4124 and BST 84124.

In 2017, it was ranked at number 194 on Pitchfork's list of the "200 Best Albums of the 1960s".

The album features a fusion of jazz with spirituals, and features a vocal choir singing wordlessly to accompany the instruments.

About the project, Byrd said: "I mean this album seriously. Because of my own background, I've always wanted to write an entire album of spiritual-like pieces. The most accurate way I can describe what we were all trying to do is that this is a modern hymnal. In an earlier period, the New Orleans jazzmen would often play religious music for exactly what it was - but with their own jazz textures and techniques added. Now, as modern jazzmen, we're also approaching this tradition with respect and great pleasure." - Wikipedia
