I’m baffled at the UK government’s approach to taxing and subsidising green tech. For context, I looked up the numbers, and about 2 million new cars were sold last year in the UK, versus about 1.5 million new home heating systems - so roughly equal numbers. The #EV revolution is building momentum, with some models reaching price parity for their battery and fossil versions, and a market share of 25% (and rising rapidly) of battery cars, and the government recently decided to reintroduce a £3750 grant. Yet with home heating, new gas boiler installs are still outnumbering #HeatPumps by 15:1 and they choose to /withdraw/ the £7500 grant on those? Do they not understand where catalysts are needed? It seems the push for heat pumps ignores where many people live & whether they have any extra money at all after paying essentials.

Tis the season to be #HeatPumps'in, now with two of the $500 keystone window units humming away... the efficiency and heat output seems okay but the control setup is funky and the 40F cutoff needs some kind of failover relay that I can plug a resistance heater or something into. I'm wondering can I get or build a robot to plug it into, that can sense current on one outlet & control the other. Bonus if it can also take network / sensor input and blip some IR over USB to better control the HP.
