photograph shows two seals in the surf of a beach. The lighter one (a female, I think) is lying down on her side and turning her head back towards the darker male, who is leaning over her, with his front flippers propped up on her flank. They seem to be looking at each other.

Remnants of German constructions, blown to pieces by the British still there 80 years after. What if people put such energy in peaceful activities…

Visitors are asked to keep 30m distance - which is really not that much.

My wife and I spent a few days on #Heligoland (#Helgoland) this summer.
The architecture is not pretty and the food not great, but there are some great encounters with #wildlife!
We were too late for masses of breeding razorbills and guillemots, but the colonies of the #gannets were still occupied and are right beside the accessible foodpaths!

Synopsis
