I just found out about Highly Sensitive People and I totally relate. My skin is sensitive- I’m allergic to fragrances and acne-prone. My eyes are sensitive- almost always wearing sunglasses. My hearing is sensitive- live music and other loud sounds are not pleasurable.
This also led me to self identifying as an ‘empath’, which sounds cooler than it is. It should really be called hyper-empathy syndrome, as described in the book, The Parable of the Sower.
Anyone else relate?

A friend shared these videos with me to help me understand her better. And it's crazy how many of the questions relate with me as well...this may explain a lot of things about me.

Eating grapefruit & I'm reminded of the time me & Person X had to supply breakfast for a group. I talked over ideas with the host, we settled on store-bought croissants, muffins & grapefruit. At the breakfast literally nobody (except me) ate what I brought, not even the host who approved the items. Person X's food was finished & I had to bring home all my leftovers. I felt so embarrassed & slighted.
This is why at any potluck I always make sure no dish is untouched.

@obrerx @actuallyautistic I'm a #HighlySensitivePerson and a good few of my friends identify with autism spectrum. One of whom even assumied i was the same way, but after a brief ponder i obviously wasn't. While we have a few traits in common, when it comes to interacting with people, we seem to be almost opposites. I'm speaking for myself, and fellow #HSP might not be completely the same way, however,

Strobe lights are one of the largest banes of my existence. It’s difficult, and personally embarrassing, to be a highly sensitive jam band fan. #phish #highlysensitive #highlysensitiveperson #photosensitive #photosensitivity
Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP) don’t usually come under the neurodiversity umbrella. Is it because different studies claim up to 30% of the population could be HSPs? Or is there another, deeper, reason? #highlySensitivePerson

Moin, moin!
Da ja jeder seine Abkürzungen aus seinem Bereich hat, zur Klarstellung:

As a highly sensitive person, do you too find the world to be too noisy? Do you too, see through people's loudness?
I know I cannot be alone in this.

Randomly on a Tuesday:
I know now why I don't like pranks: I don't want you to play with my feelings. Not even a little. Not even in jest.
My feelings are both big and fragile, and I don't want you to.
That's it, let's go on scrolling.
In a dream, I suspected I was dreaming, so I pinched myself. It hurt. Then I asked someone what year it was, and they said "1608." And then I knew!
I wonder if my ability to feel pain in a dream is related to my ability to tickle myself? And I wonder if both are related to being highly sensitive. Any other HSPs out there?
Just had a small reminder that when dealing w/ The Outside World, one must always #SelfAdvocate! Not especially easy for a #HighlySensitivePerson like me, who is uber-conscious of overstepping.
I called to re-schedule an annual appointment.
Me: Hi, I'd like to re-schedule my July 2024 appt to August 2024. Is the August calendar open yet?
Them: No.
Me [suspicious]: Um, when will it be open?
Them: Next month.
Me: Uh, I got a July 2024 appt in July, so shouldn't August 2024 be open now?

If you ever need to remember the title of a book, where to find a certain online course or another resource for HSPs, all you need to do is check your handbook.
