- ½ oz Ancho Reyes chili liqueur
- 2 oz fresh brewed espresso

An interesting espresso martini riff with Angostura bitters as the "base" even though it's not a huge slug like some other cocktails. Also in proportion is a lack of sugar syrup, with the two liqueurs providing all the sweetness. The chili liqueur shows up at the end leaving a pleasant warmth on your palate.

The choice of espresso bean makes a huge difference in this one, and at the moment I had a darker roast that my partner prefers in the grinder which I felt made the drink too bitter overall. I'll probably try this one again with a lighter roast (what I prefer drinking anyway).

Found from IG fredericyarm and he credits Brandon Bramhall at Nashville's Attaboy circa 2017. Lovely sip with all the acidity and sugar coming from alcoholic ingredients, but without too much base it's not overly boozy.

This has been on my reshake list forever and I finally got around to it! In December 2024 I went to Mothership, a space-themed tiki bar in San Diego with Star Trek TOS vibes that I just loved. At the bar it came in a Nachtmann crystal glass and specifically named Stroh, an Austrian rum. Both are really easy to get in my area, so I vowed to remake it.

The spec proportions are my best guess, but I think I landed pretty close and it tasted great. I went a step further with the Stroh and used a barspoon to cover the dehydrated orange for a flaming boost to warp speed! The original had a candied orange instead of dehydrated (see second pic to compare).

I gave this one superpowers by lining a spent bottle with food-grade beeswax from my neighborhood beekeeper, batching the cocktail and resting it in the bottle for about six weeks until it imparted a soft but powerful scent that rounds out the edges of this boozy cocktail. Worth the wait!

The spec itself came from Kindred Cocktails in San Diego, and I found out about it from IG parttimemixologist. I opted for his substitution of rye instead of bourbon.

Garnish: pineapple frond
Method: Combine all ingredients except seltzer in a shaker with ice and shake. Fill the glass with ice and add the seltzer. Strain shaker into the glass.

Want to pretend it's summer out? Think margarita but lengthened and you land on Los Altos. Honestly I just needed an excuse to use my Surfside Sips black bamboo straw with Ferdinand the Frog hanging out. I came across this on IG luifern channel.

3 oz eggnog
1½ oz brandy
float heavy whipping cream

Garnish: grated cinnamon
Method: Warm the egg liqueur in a small saucepan. Pour the brandy in a glass mug. When the egg liqueur is hot (but not yet at boiling point), slowly add it to the brandy. Stir well to combine. Top the cocktail with a generous amount of whipped cream, and garnish it with a sprinkling of cinnamon.

The reward after a long day of skiing in Italy! I learned about this one from a friend who lives in Austria and loves his mountain time. The perfect antidote to the cold weather.

SPICED CRANBERRY FRENCH 75

½ oz lemon juice
½ oz simple syrup
1 oz gin
float sparkling wine

Garnish: none
Method: I normally batch this one, adding 20% water to dilute. Then once both bottles of batch and champagne are chilled down, combine them in glass (heavy on champagne) and serve to the group. The picture has a reddish color because this one used spiced cranberry simple syrup instead of regular simple.

Cranberry syrup: I brought water to a boil, then brought the heat down to medium low. I threw in a bunch of sliced cranberries, a cinnamon stick, a star anise, allspice, black pepper, cloves, and a pinch of salt. I let them all cook together for an hour or so. Added 1.5x sugar compared to the water, killed the heat, stirred to incorporate fully, then strained into a bottle after it cooled.
