Homeless and Addiction Outreach Officer (HAOO) Android

John Gregg Fee, Presbyterian, declines membership in secret societies. They’re selfish and reject handicapped people an people of color. This is the opposite of the spirit of Christianity, and fosters a spirit of caste.

Do we try so hard to find the deserving poor, that we will only help those who can help themselves? Is church a beauty pageant?

How have you experienced fellowship with the truly needy?

"I declined the invitation to join (a secret society], and in a public discourse gave my reasons for so declining. ... Such societies are selfish, and as such, contrary to the spirit and letter of Christianity, (1) They reject the very objects of charity — 'the halt, the lame, the blind, [and instead] help those who help the society and can help themselves. (2) Usually they reject men in this country simply because they are colored. This fosters the spirit of caste."
