For all you love birds, and , and , here's a pretty postcard from First Avenue in Belltown, Seattle. Don't fall into any traps and enjoy a fresh week.

A classic comic-style mural, about 20 meters wide and 6 meters high, shows a skull-faced individual and a blonde, lipstick-wearing woman, tears dripping from her closes eyes, embracing, maybe kissing. She says, "I won't care what they say... I know we belong together!"

Looks like another new hominid! Here’s the telling sentence: “Maba 1 currently cannot be definitely classified in any known hominin taxon.” #AncientDNA #isogg #hominid #Maba1 #geneadons #dna

A partial jaw bone that was found by fishermen has been a puzzle for a long time. It was thought that it was a neanderthal bone, but bone was not old enough. Perhaps the neanderthals died out much later? DNA could not be extracted. But now by extracting tooth proteins the puzzle has been solved. It is actually a bone from a Denisovan man. It offers a new insight into early hominids.

10 #Oldest #Human #Skeletons in the World

oldest.org/people/human-skelet

While many #hominid or human #ancestor skeletons have been discovered that date back millions of years, the oldest modern human (#Homosapiens) skeletons are significantly more recent. Research suggests that Homo sapiens only appeared about 200,000 to 300,000 years ago. Some of the earliest #humanremains date back to this time, while the oldest nearly complete skeletons are only about 100,000 years old.

Today, near a 1960s settlement of the Usa people of N.America, found a mass grave containing skeletal remains of 10 /Ferreahydris budweissi/.

This creature was immobile, but had a protective iron-alloy #exoskeleton and contained a #noxious liquid foul enough to deter almost any #predator.

An unknown #hominid began to prey on these organisms sometime between 80-90ya. They are now #extinct in the wild.

Believed to be unrelated to modern /Aluminahydris budweissi/.

Scientists Reconstruct Skull of Pierolapithecus catalaunicus
Pierolapithecus catalaunicus is an extinct species of great ape that lived in what is now Europe about 12 million years ago. A remarkably complete, although partially distorted, skull and an associated skeleton of the primate was discovered in 2002 in Hostalets de Pierola, Catalonia, Spain.

This is the dumbest thing that I've read this year, and I'm in the U.S.

Why would you take #hominid bones on a Virgin Galactic #spaceflight trip? What sort of publicity are you trying to generate? Is the University of #Witwatersrand losing students and looking for a way to attract them back?

"... for the promotion of #science and discoveries in South Africa."

Uh-huh.

“The HLD 6 mandible provides further support for the high morphological diversity during late Middle Pleistocene hominin evolution. With these findings, it is possible that modern human morphologies are present as early as 300 ka and earlier than the emergence of modern humans in East Asia.” #isogg #dna #ancientdna #hominid #geneadons

The world’s oldest stone tools were made by an ape-like hominid 3.3 million years ago, predating the emergence of the genus Homo by half a million years. This suggests that tool-making was not a unique feature of our ancestors but a more widespread and ancient skill among hominids. The discovery also challenges the conventional view that stone tools were linked to larger brains and language evolution. #stonetools #hominid #evolution iflscience.com/worlds-oldest-s
