First honey harvest this year – the two supers from green and blue hives yielded 36 kg in total. We usually run small batches so we extract the honey using a press.

I'm going to talk about #Observability, notably around #Otel and #Honeycomb, as I feel these things aren't shouted about enough, and how much of a massive game changer they can be with regards to writing and observing software.

#Bees (and others, like hornets) make their nest with quite perfect hexagonal grids. It's the best shape to minimize the amount of wax required. That was proved mathematically in the #Honeycomb theorem. How do bees do it? They build circles of wax and heat it. And then automatically the hexagon polygons energy with all its #symmetry and beauty.

The first book from the #honeycomb is "The Story of Ferdinand". It was published in 1936 and was radical in terms of its understanding of masculinity and the high value of individuality. It is striking however that Ferdinand is never part of a society. He is the happy outsider who does not want to fight, but would much rather smell flowers (alone).
Ferdinand's pacifism has no consequences for him, quite the opposite of the book we will present next. #books #literature #politics #bookstodon
