Houseplant update. En-suite monstera has been potted into a much smaller pot, it’s on its last legs (roots?) but hey, let’s try and revive it. Tradescantia growing well and potted up a size. This was gifted to me today. It's a Variegated Ficus, and I don't believe it's ever been repotted. I will have to break that pot to get it out.

I am not familiar with these at all. How to proceed? Repotting is a must, but trimming I am not sure of. Big cuts could kill it, and I know they are a milky sap producer; I don't want to introduce infection. Better to trim all the ends and hope it fills in?

Do I loosen the root ball or leave it to enjoy new soil and larger pot?

Update:

So, the smell has dissipated within a day after my panicked flushing. There is a bit of white mold, which is fine, but the pot needs to dry out a bit.

I haven't measured it yet, but the plant seems to have absorbed some of the iron I had in my rinsing solution. Which indicates a good PH.

Hoping for the best.
