"Real solutions do not come from criminalizing desperation or relabeling enforcement as compassion.
They come from:
- truly accessible, trauma-informed shelter options, not mats on floors;
- expanded 24/7 warming centres, open before the cold becomes lethal;
- deeply affordable, supportive housing, scaled to actual need;
- policy reform, including the repeal of laws like Bill 60;
- working directly with encampment residents, rather than pushing them out of sight;
- ending the political theatre of encampment clearings, which simply displace people without solving the crisis."

For history buffs, Mr. #Mamdani has done the service of rekindling an interest in a largely forgotten American tradition, the โsewer socialistsโ who ran a significant list of cities in the last century. The most durable among them was Daniel Hoan, the #socialist mayor of Milwaukee from 1916 to 1940.

It's my first time seeing The Claw do it's work. After having spent the morning helping encampment residents collect their belongings and throw out garbage, the use of the claw seems like a gratuitous act of state violence.
