Ha! I was only wondering about this myself over the last few days.

This is yet another reason to eschew the "self-charging EV" - the hybrid. They had their moment from 2000-2022 or so.

It's over - proper EVs cost the same now.

Hybrids are complex and, as we see here, inherently fragile. Toyota's Prius' only work because of Toyota's rabid pursuit of quality. Other manufacturers like MG, 😬.

PS all cars are bad.
