@tinker My first #Kratky #hydroponic attempts. Plant info in alt text. They are 5L buckets, with 4L of nutrient mix. They were established in my DWC unit, as I wanted to see if this setup supported already growing plants before I tried growing straight from seed (more likely to see issues sooner, was my logic).

The celery has certainly grown well since late August! Decided to harvest a good bit of it, esp since the oregano has been in the shadows.

I got green lighter to go ahead with a new design for a #hydroponic system. I designed it around over the shelf parts ( 110mm PP drainage pipes and 110-55mm manifolds ) on a metal shelf, a pump and made a render in blender. I wonder if anybody has comments/experience with such a system( I made a simpler 110mmPVC some years ago) .
A bit concerned by the height of water and young roots that might not reach all the way to the water. I am thinking of wicks to start them.Boosting for reach welcome

One of the good things about living in the MidRed... A pal was out shooting #duck tonight. He stopped by my apt with some very fresh duck breasts. Shot at 630pm..so very fresh. From my indoor #hydroponic garden I picked some #basil, radish greens, radishes, and from the pantry some tiny oranges....air fried the duck with salt, Szechuan pepper corns, soy and ginger glaze...and in 20 mins ... #aptgarden #kratkyfood

My latest #garden grown #salad was flashy lettuce, cauliflower leaves, kale, kale lacinato, Swiss chard, yellow cherry tomatoes, red cherry tomatoes, and cucumber. Most of this salad came from my #hydroponic garden but the cucumbers were grown in my front yard garden, and the red cherry tomatoes are squirrel #tomatoes . What are squirrel tomatoes? They come from a plant planted in my backyard by squirrels who raised my neighbors' #gardens . It is like the #squirrels are paying rent to me.

Little cleaning session later, now ready for plants again! The cleaning vinegar makes it super easy to clean.

These #hydroponic #peppers better git to growing, I'm using a #kratky setup of a hoocho bucket of cococoir and cotton wick on top a 5 gal bucket of water and nutrients...but the level is getting low now the fruiting is on.

I could add back in maybe 1 gal of mix to keep it fruiting, but I really want to see how #SetAndForget I can get this.

Also adding back into a #kratky setup is a dance, too much and you drown the air roots.

Another #hydroponic experiment time:
Cleaned out the hydroponic machine and planted two pods of lettuce for the summer months, and started experimenting with 1) growing Hibiscus moscheutos from seed and 2) using more sustainable coco coir as the growing medium.

Update #Cannabis, weil da ist gerade am meisten los und ich schick die jetzt in Blüte.
Anfangs hatte ich Probleme bei der Umstellung auf Kunstlicht (mit zu viel Lumen draufgeballert.... soll ja schnell gehen....) und dadurch fast die Pflanze gekillt.
Schnee von gestern und jetzt läuft alles erstaunlich rund.
Was praktisches zum Nachfüllen für den Tank muss ich mir noch einfallen lassen und einen Wasserstandsanzeiger hätte ich auch noch gerne.
